A pleasant level walk will take you into the heart of Keswick, a thriving town at the head of Derwentwater. The town is home to plenty of popular attractions including Derwent Pencil Museum, Theatre by the Lake, Alhambra Cinema and Puzzling Place. Heading away from the town, landmarks include the Castlerigg Stone Circle (2.5 miles), Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum (5.5 miles) and Rookin House Activity Centre (10.5 miles). There are lots of spellbinding walks and trails for hikers, climbers and cyclists, with local activities including kayaking, mountain biking, canoeing and paddleboarding. Heading north past the beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake (5 miles), you can visit the Lakes Distillery (8 miles) and the popular Lake District Wildlife Park (9 miles).

The cottage can be accessed either by three stone steps or by a wheelchair ramp. Inside, the airy and attractive light-filled lounge/diner is a relaxing living space, featuring plenty of seating, a TV, a well-stocked bookcase, and a delightful dining area, with French doors and large bay windows overlooking the garden. The stylish kitchen is an ideal space to prepare your favourite family meals, and is equipped with a gas oven with gas hobs, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. There is also a handy breakfast table and large wall map of the Lakes on the wall so you can plan your day’s activities. Exploring this cheerful and fresh bungalow further, there are three light and relaxing bedrooms decorated in soothing tones. The first bedroom has a king-size bed, plenty of storage and a wheelchair-accessible shower room with a walk-in shower and WC. The second king-size bedroom has ceiling-high bookshelves with a range of books to browse, along with armchairs offering pretty views from a picture window. Finally, the twin room has lovely views towards the fells. There’s also a stylish family shower room with a large shower enclosure and WC.

Heading outside, the large and enclosed back garden is a great space to spend a relaxing afternoon. The garden features a patio with outdoor furniture, then a couple of steps lead down onto the lawn which is surrounded by a wealth of beautiful plants and flowers. A charming pergola provides a relaxing spot. The private driveway has ample parking space for four cars. There’s also a small car port to the side of the property which can be used for storing bikes – this area is covered but open, so please bring your own bike locks.

This is a beautiful bungalow in a peaceful setting with a lovely garden. It is very convenient for a short walk into Keswick. Fiona is always available if there are any problems and leaves flowers and goodies which adds to the personal touch. We frequently stay at this bungalow and highly recommend it.

The owner was really helpful and messaged us when the property was ready which was well before the 5 o'clock entry time. There was a birthday cake and gifts for my 60th, fresh flowers everywhere and even treats for the dogs. The property was exceptionally clean and well equipped in an excellent location close to all amenities and local walks. The oRead moreutside off street parking was a huge bonus as we had three cars between us. The enclosed beautiful back garden was ideal for relaxing for both humans and dogs. Lovely break in one of the best parts of Keswick for walking the dog as well as being close enough to shops/eating places. We loved our stay and really want to return in 2027. Just love it! Mapledale is very comfortable, beautifully presented, well equipped and ideal for those with mobility issues. It is situated in pleasant, quiet cul-de-sac with private garden and plenty of parking space. Easy 10 minute walk into Keswick town. We have stayed several times and are always sad to leave. Our second stay at this lovely property - which is ideally suited to taking our elderly parents (given the Disability Friendly layout and facilities). We had a great stay in Keswick. What a lovely property. Fiona was so kind and the welcome goodies were amazing! All dietary requirements were catered for and even our dog was included! The property is very centrally situated in Keswick. A 5 minute walk to Fitz Park which is great for dog walking. The Spar in the garage is 5 minutes walk away. The bungalow was spotless and very comfortable and the garden is lovely with lots of different plants and a private patio. I lovley bright bungalow in an excellent location. there are three good sized bedrooms and the beds are comfortable which is what you need after a day walking in the Lake district. Mapledale is the best holiday home Ive stayed in! It is beautifully furnished, well-designed and everything you could need is provided. I was staying there with my elderly parents and it was perfect. Sitting in the lounge area, on the terrace or in the armchairs in the large bedroom looking out into the garden was so relaxing. Everything was amazing! They went to the trouble of decorating to help celebrate my partner's birthday. Communication was great. The place itself was just incredibly comfortable and clean. I would highly recommend staying here.

Excellent location. Only 10 minutes to town centre via short cut at top of road. Very thoughtful welcoming gifts which were soon tucked into by Grandsons. A nice and cosy property would highly recommend. We had a marvellous stay for New Year. We love Keswick.

Mapledale is a very comfortable and well appointed bungalow on the edge of Keswick. It has adequate parking for three cars and the entrance is easily accessible. It is conveniently situated for Keswick town centre and the surrounding area. The accommodation is ideal for two couples and two children .

The bungalow is spacious, comfortable, very well equipped and very well located just on the edge of the town in a quiet area, but near enough to walk into Keswick itself. We had a lovely stay in a beautiful bungalow. Welcome pack was fantastic, including fresh flowers in every room. Very quiet area yet only 10 minutes walk into town. Handy shop at the Spar garage even closer. So good we have already booked to return. We have stayed in probably 20 holiday homes in the Lakes and this is our new favourite
