From the south the narrow road over Ulpha fell is both challenging and spectacular. The longer coastal route is more relaxing with sea views. On arrival the cottage is close to the road but we had no ssues with traffic. Off road parking for 2 cars is a bit tight if you have large SUV size vehicles. You might get the odd walker looking into the kRead moreitchen as they head up to Boot! Once inside you are impressed witj quality of furnishing, fittings and utensils. The lounge was very comfy and plenty of room to relax (we were a party of 5). 2 of the bedrooms are quite small but have ample storage space. The ground floor shower was perfectly adequate. The 2 inns in the village both provide excellent food, good range of ales, and beer garden.. Brook House opposite (closed every Monday and Tuesday) is a bit more up market whilst the Boot is a typical Lakes walkers pub. We had the Sunday lunch and the portions were huge. Booking is advisable to both. But the reason for staying at this cottage is the LOCATION! From the front door you have a range of walks in the valley from easy strolls along the river to the highest peaks in England. The weather for the week was 7 days of wall to wall sunshine. Almost perfect. Hide

Lane End is an easy, comfortable, well equipped home. The peace, quiet and stunning views certainly helped us to recharge our batteries and it was so lovely to do some amazing walks straight from the front door. We had a fantastic holiday at Lane End. It really was a home from home with a lot of thought having gone into what might be needed. Very clean and comfortable. Particularly loved the library in the lounge with a great selection of books - with a window seat to read them on!

A beautiful, cosy cottage with everything you need at hand. Beautifully decorated and furnished and very well equipped. The incessant rain just meant we had more time to enjoy relaxing. Photos give the impression that it's larger than it is but it's still big enough. Stayed from 8th Nov. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful location, three pubs very close by, we did some amazing walks from the door, coming back to a lovely warm cosy cottage. Very well equipped kitchen, super comfy bed, we didnt use the tv all week, as we were quite content, sitting on the lovely comfy sofas reading and relaxing, would highly recommend, and hope to return one day.

This cottage is a delight. It is, of course, in one of the most beautiful parts of the Lakes. There are many walks from the front door: ranging from climbing Scafell to strolls by the river, and everything in between. The cottage is comfortable, clean and quiet. It is very well equipped. There is a pub across the road, but our favourite was the BooRead moret Inn, all of 5 minutes walk away. Very highly recommended. Hide
