Nestled between the villages of Little Blencow and Greystoke on the north-eastern outskirts of the Lake District, this mid-terrace barn conversion offers a blend of traditional features and contemporary living. With the National Park only 2 miles away, you can easily explore the fells and lakes, whether you’re walking or cycling. Popular Ullswater and Pooley Bridge are 10 miles away or, for something even more peaceful, head to the remote Haweswater. Full of history, this area boasts historic ruins and buildings, as well as being home to several National Trust properties and sights, such as the breathtaking Aira Force waterfall. Shops, eateries and amenities are only 5.5 miles away in the lively town of Penrith.

Sympathetically renovated, this charming property radiates style and elegance, with original features sitting effortlessly alongside traditional furniture and decor with a contemporary twist. From the parking area, you pass through the garden and enter into a tiled hallway. Here, you will find plenty of space for your coats and boots. To the right of the hall is the light and airy kitchen/diner, which is fully equipped with everything you’ll need for a tasty snack or a four-course meal, including an American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and range cooker with a double oven. A handy washing machine is in here too. The island not only provides space for sociable cooking; it also has a breakfast bar for additional seating. There is more formal seating at the dining table, where you can share a meal, play games or plan the next adventure. There is a wall-mounted TV should you need extra entertainment. Across the hall and up a single step are two of the bedrooms with a toilet and shower room in between. One of the bedrooms is a twin room with two double beds for a touch of luxury, and double doors let the light flood in as well as allow access to the garden. The other bedroom is an equally well-presented cosy double. Both rooms have a TV. Back through the hallway, head up the stairs to the spacious first-floor lounge. Exposed beams and a vaulted ceiling add to the sense of grandeur here, as does the carefully selected, statement decor. The wood burner is the focal point of the room with comfy sofas facing it – the perfect place to snuggle up of an evening with a glass of wine. The first floor is also home to a large, beautifully finished master king-size bedroom, with two chairs and a coffee table for quieter moments during the day, or to take in the beautiful fell views. Adjacent to this is the stunning family bathroom with a separate shower and bath.

Outside, there is an enclosed front garden. The small lawn and patio area with dining furniture are perfect for a spot of al fresco dining, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. There is parking for two cars. Please note that this property does not accept children under 18.

We had a lovely week in this very nice house. The furnishings were extremely nice, comfortable beds and interesting pieces of art around the house. A very cozy log fire with plenty of logs to keep us warm on chilly March evenings. Everything was perfect.

Had to come back to this gorgeous holiday home as we couldnt fault one aspect of our previous stay and we were blown away once again. Mia loves it here as she can roam the private garden and relax. Thankyou sue for having us. We look forward to returning in the fall for more hiking adventures.

WOW! What an amazing first impression. The Cottage is stunning and deceptively big. The decor and furniture make it feel like your in a manor house but also feels cosy. The master bedroom and twin bedroom were both very spacious and the bathroom was luxurious. We loved everything about it and would 100% recommend

Beautifully presented cottage in a lovely quiet rural location. We have been to the Lake District many times before but this was the first time staying to its eastern edge. That said everything we visited was still relatively close travelling time wise and Penrith was close by for any major shopping. Cottage is very well appointed with 2 massive beRead moredrooms and a 3rd still relatively big by todays standards. Lovely enclosed garden to the front which was ideal for our wee Jack Russell. A fabulous week, the house is beautifully decorated with comfy furniture and beds. Lovely paintings, lamps and ornaments plus a super log burner. Sue made us welcome, no help needed during our stay but that was only because everything worked and there were instructions if needed. The Swallows is a spacious, comfortable, clean and well-equipped holiday cottage. The enclosed garden allowed us to let our dog out without worrying he would take himself off on a walk! The beds are extremely comfortable - the best we've ever slept on in a holiday let. We would definitely recommend.

We had an amazing stay at this lovely property in September 24. The garden seating was an added bonus and we spent early evenings outside with a glass of wine. Friendly owners. The cottage is clean, well equipped and the welcome pack and dog chest were a lovely touch! The only minor downside was that we had to drive for 10 mins to Greystoke Forest Read moreto give the dogs a run off the lead in the evening because the cottage is on the road and the nearby fields are private property. Absolutely lovely and true to the pictures on the site. My friends and I felt very comfortable and had everything we needed to self cater. Two villages within walking distance, one of which has a dog friendly pub. The boot and shoe had very friendly staff and highly rated food. We all would recommend this property.
