Property code: OC-89068

Traditional detached stone house set in the stunning Lake District National Park, overlooking fields and fells. The pretty village of Pooley Bridge sits on the River Eamont and beautiful Ullswater is just 2 miles away. The village has a selection of country pubs serving good food and local beer – there is a lovely waterside café and small independent shops too. Take a boat from Pooley Bridge to Howtown where you can walk to Glenridding and catch the boat back. It was one of Wordsworth's favourite walks and offers views of Ullswater and Helvellyn. Enjoy a day at Dalemain Mansion and Historic Gardens or visit Aira Force Waterfall (8 miles), set amongst ancient woodland and landscaped glades. Park your car and head down the steps into the enclosed garden.

As you enter the property you will find yourself in the hallway where there is coat and boot storage. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area is off the hall and offers a great social space to catch up with lovely parquet flooring, a cosy wood burner and original beams. There is a Smart TV in both the lounge and kitchen area. The kitchen offers dining for the whole party and everything you will need to enjoy a hearty breakfast or an evening meal. There is access out onto the garden from the lounge area. Off the lounge, you will find a sunroom, which has stone flooring and is a practical space to relax or for muddy dogs after a long walk. The views from this room are breathtaking, it is also a great place to sneak off to get away from it all with a good book or a glass of wine! Head back through the lounge and into the hallway, and at the bottom of the stairs you will find a bathroom. Up the staircase on the first floor you will find the second bathroom, and a couple more steps lead to the main landing. Here you will find the three beautiful bedrooms – one double, one king-size and a twin, all with lovely countryside views.

The pretty, enclosed garden is accessed from either the sunroom or lounge. There is a patio with charcoal BBQ and a seating area to enjoy al fresco meals on a nice evening! Sink into the hot tub and enjoy the views.

Lovely location very peaceful, property was very clean however low wall in garden bigger dogs can easily jump over and cows in neighbouring field and parking was only for 2 cars not 3. Overall very lovely stay but could do with a few improvements inside.

Isolated spot but easy access to Pooley Bridge. The cottage was clean and comfortable but not luxurious. The welcome pack consisted of a pint of milk and a few biscuit packs. The garden is not really secure as the wall is very low in parts. Parking 2 large SUVs not easy. All these things can be coped with but would have been good to know in advanceRead more . Hide

Really enjoyed staying at High Brow cottage, had everything we needed, and close to Penrith centre and easy to drive to Keswick and Windermere. Hope to return in the summer.

Absolutely lovely place to stay. A well equipped kitchen. The open plan down stairs with the cosy log burner was the best. The conservatory has fabulous views but could do with a window scrapper for the condensation. All the bedrooms were clean and tidy. The upstairs toilet would benefit from a small sink. We loved the down stairs shower as so easyRead more to use Hide

We had a lovely week in a really clean, well cared for cottage and garden. The owners obviously really care. Plenty to do & see with walks that start straight from your front door. Arthurs Pike offers great views. Take the advice of the cottage and keep your dogs on leads even when outside the cottage. There is livestock all around. We took two lonRead moreg leads and tied them to the ironwork next to the front door. The hot-tub offers some fine views especially at sunset. Well be back! Hide

What a beautiful cottage! Everything we need for a wonderful holiday and a perfect location with hard to beat views! The sun room provided the perfect place to watch a storm, whilst the sunny and less windy afternoons can be spent in the hot tub so good in all weathers! We cannot wait to return in the future!

The outside space and location were lovely but it needs better quality outdoor furniture for price of rental. The inside is clean but could be better for what they are charging. No sink in toilet. Enjoyed the holiday but have stayed in much better accommodation for the money.
