The lovely village of Newby Bridge has the famous former Furness Railway, which runs between Lakeside and Haverthwaite. Around the corner from the cottage, enjoy magnificent views across Lake Windermere and the surrounding fells where you can hire a boat to enjoy this wonderful area or take the steamer up to Bowness. Bowness-on-Windermere is just 8 miles away and provides a lovely day out with an abundance of bars, shops, and eateries, or head up to the picturesque village of Hawkshead which has charm and character throughout, along with many local shops and pubs and is located 9 miles from the property.

Walking into this former railway cottage, you will find yourself in the lounge area, which has two comfortable two-seater sofas positioned around the Smart TV, ideal for a relaxing family movie night after a busy day exploring the area. The kitchen/diner is tastefully styled with an electric oven and hob, and a pine dining table for everyone to enjoy a tasty meal. There is a utility area with a microwave, washing machine, and fridge/freezer. Up to the first floor is the main bedroom with a double bed and plenty of space, offering amazing views over the steam railway. Along the landing is the family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC, and completing this property is the bedroom next door with 3' bunk beds.

At the front of the house is a beautiful patio area with seating to enjoy the steam trains passing by and views over the fells beyond, plus a part fenced lawned area. There is an allocated parking space for one car and additional visitor parking.

Good location in Newby Bridge, the cottage was immaculately clean on arrival & very well equipped for self catering. Steep staircase to first floor. There was plenty of tea/coffee & sachets of milk on arrival + wine, ale & soft drinks in the fridge. Washing machine is a bonus & use of an outside line or clothes horses if need to dry items indoors.

Most fantastic stay, our 2 yr old loved playing in the garden and seeing the trains go past, as well as the sheep out the back. The cottage gave us the home away from home feel and the lovely added touches such as drinks and milk were very welcome after the drive up. Very clean and very well equipped with all essential utensils, milk, tea coffee sugar kitchen foil cling film etc.. alot of thought out into what guests will need during their stay... all this was very appreciated. This cottage has everything you could possibly need and more to spend a lovely holiday at the Lake. The kitchen is very well equipped and more than enough kitchen ware. A great find the sound of the occasional steam train sounded like the heartbeat of this cottage. Fabulous utilities and was very welcoming for us as a family.Wonderful placement to our places of interest. Lovely walks by the glimmering lakes and Footfell, we used the nearby spa too. Thank you

This cottage was lovely, very comfortable and very clean. There were some lovely walks and spots to eat nearby. Our little boy loved watching the steam train go by too!

We spent 7 nights in this wonderful cottage and cannot fault it. It was a great location for what we were planning for our holiday and the area was lovely and peaceful. Absolute gem of a cottage, really appreciated all the walks from the door, especially to Lakeside- could have done this one every day on such a stunning path with so many opportunities to photograph the steam trains with sensational back drops. Beautiful cottage, amazing setting. Spotlessly clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We were mainly out during the day, but loved going into the garden in the morning and seeing all the birds and watching the little train go past. We were even treated to a an air show (fighter jet flying past) one morning. Our daughter loved it! We also Read moreloved The Lakes Monopoly. Booths at Ulverston was great for groceries.
