Studded on the coastline between Aldingham Beach and Bardsea, Baycliff is a traditional village with a rich fishing history. Your holiday accommodation offers a cosy setting for a family holiday on the Cumbrian coastline, providing sleeping space for up to five guests. The sand and shingle beach is within a 0.5-mile walk, and the village itself is home to a playground and a popular pub. Further afield, the market town of Ulverston is an excellent destination for picking up a few essentials and enjoying the museum, theatre and independent shops. For beach lovers, a 2.5-mile drive in either direction offers lots of potential for walks along the shoreline.

Enter via the sunroom to find the dining room, a comfortable setting for your evening meal with a sofa, dining table, chairs and a bespoke window seat, and there is an adjoining room with a washing machine and WC. Step through the glass-panelled doors and into the lounge ready to light the wood burner and curl up on the sofas. Traditional beams and exposed stone set the scene for relaxed evenings. A narrow, curved passageway leads through to the country cottage-style kitchen with its electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with a small freezer compartment and a view toward the bay. Follow the winding staircase from the lounge up to the first floor, taking great care when walking from room to room as there are uneven spots due to the property’s age. The split-level landing reveals three bedrooms and a handy hanging rail over the stairs for drying clothes. There is a double bedroom with a bed, storage space and a hanging rail, and the master bedroom features a small freestanding clawfoot bath and an alcove that conceals a vanity unit and a washbasin. Further along the hallway, you’ll discover a single room with pretty views, drawers and a hanging rail. A family shower room completes the cottage with a WC and an electric shower.

Outside, the courtyard "yarden" is hidden behind a stone archway and has plant pots and garden furniture for balmy summer evenings. There is off-road parking for one car on the private driveway.

Lovely peaceful location right opposite a friendly pub (no music during our visits). The cottage was clean and well equipped. The double beds were comfortable, as were the sofas. Plenty of dvds, books and board games available. We really enjoyed our short break at Chimney Cottage.

Beautiful, quirky cottage. We had a lovely stay. Ideal location. Steps from a pub which served delicious food and wine. Fully equipped cottage and very clean on arrival. Would recommend.

Kitchen well equipped. Sitting room comfortable. All very clean. Having a table to eat at was an advantage. Limited places to walk to from the cottage.
