Quirky Cottage is easily accessible from the A6 where you can park on the pavement just outside the front door. As you enter this pretty cottage, the age and character of this property cannot go unnoticed. There is storage for coats and shoes as you come through the front door and, as you enter the open-plan lounge and dining area, you will find original beams, a stunning wooden floor and a sandstone fireplace with a cosy wood burner and ambient lighting. Relax on the comfortable corner sofa, catch up on your favourite film or series on the Smart TV after a day out exploring, or read a good book in front of the fire. There is a stylish dining area that offers a great space to make plans for your days ahead over dinner or breakfast. Stepping down one step from the lounge area, you will find yourself in the hallway. Next, there is a well-equipped kitchen with an electric hob and oven, slimline dishwasher, washing machine and fridge with a freezer compartment and a microwave. Access to the enclosed garden is from the kitchen. Across the hallway, you will find a useful cloakroom/drying room ideal to dry off coats and walking gear. Heading up the staircase to the first floor, you will find a lovely snug area at the top of the landing with a stylish armchair with views out across the field to the rear of the property. If you want somewhere to escape and enjoy a good book, then this is the perfect spot. Also, on the first floor, you will find two bedrooms. The first is a bright king-size master bedroom with a high ceiling and original beams. Across the hallway, there is a wet room with a rain shower and a WC. Next door, there is a pretty twin bedroom with a Juliet-style balcony accessed by a secure ladder (children should be supervised, and it is used at guests' own risk). Up here on the balcony level, you will find a secret snug with bean bags and stunning views through the Velux window over the open fields – it’s the perfect place to stargaze when the skies darken. There is also a family bathroom where you will find a bath, a handheld shower and a WC.

Outside, there is a private enclosed garden with seating and a private hot tub. There is off-road parking for one car directly in front of the property on the pavement. You will find a couple of village pubs within 350 metres of the cottage.

We stayed here for our honeymoon, we love the lakes so this was a perfect location to get to all the main walking areas. It was also not too far from a Tesco which was good if you needed something. A cosy, well appointed cottage. Although near a busy road, the traffic did not disturb us due to the triple glazing. The hot tub was lovely to relax in after a day exploring the area. Would definitely return.

The overall cleanliness of the Cottage was very poor. There was a half eaten bag of crisps underneath the large sofa, crumbs and twiglets underneath the sofa cushions. The garden was very overgrown, and the advert did not show that the garden was overlooked by the neighbour's. The double bed mattress was extremely uncomfortable so that my husband hRead moread to sleep in the spare room which was not ideal. Also the low ceilings were not advertised clearly. Quirky Cottage is a fantastic base to explore the Lake District from. The cottage is well equipped and a lovely place to return to each day. Local walks are beautiful and Penrith town, just a 20 min stroll has everything you night need. It is next to a busy road but the excellent glazing blocked out traffic noise.

The cottage is in a brilliant location to explore the Lakes and further afield. Plenty to do from the cottage itself. Both pubs within walking distance are dog friendly, childrens play areas and good food. Cottage itself is lovely- it lives up to its name. Plenty of space and warm and cosy. Kitchen equipment basic but sufficient.
