Just 3 miles from the heart of Cockermouth, journey to the birthplace of William Wordsworth and pay the quirky shops a visit. Dotted with cafes and home to the National Trust’s, Wordsworth House and Garden, spend your morning in the town before heading on to Buttermere (10 miles) Loweswater (6 miles) or Bassenthwaite Lake (5.5 miles). If you need a treat, travel 6.5 miles from your door to a spa where you can enjoy a romantic day and enjoy some afternoon tea. There is no garden at the cottage but you can head out straight from home and enjoy a walk along the river or on one of the surrounding tracks and trails which wind their way around the countryside. Spend a day at the coast and travel 12 miles to the beach at Workington.

Ascend steps to the covered porch to make your way inside this former mill building. Head upstairs to the first floor to find the living space with vaulted ceilings, exposed oak beams and plenty of natural light. Take a seat in the welcoming lounge where the wood burner promises to keep you warm and sit in front of the TV or put a DVD on for a film night. Make use of the electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer/dryer in the kitchen. Informal meals can be eaten at the breakfast bar. The stylish and cosy king-size bedroom is situated off the lounge. The bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle is on the ground floor as well as the separate WC.

The private balcony is reached off the lounge and boasts views over the water, to the pretty stone bridge and beyond. Spend time al fresco with treats and a tipple or simply enjoying your morning coffee. If you’ve brought bikes along to help you explore, store them in the secure area provided. My second stay in this cottage. Good size for a one-bedroom, and set up with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Brilliant, quiet location, away from the crowds of the Lake District but very close to both the North Lakes and the Cumbrian coast and just a couple of miles from Cockermouth for shops, cafes etc. Would use again.

Had an enjoyable stay in this cottage. A good size for a one-bedroom property, and very clean and comfortable. The quiet location offers easy access to the Cumbrian coast as well as the North Lakes, without any of the crowding/parking issues found in the Lakes themselves. A great place for a stay in this area.

The cottage is full of character and very comfortable. Well equiped and clean. The location is peaceful with stunning views nearby. Close to Cockermouth which has a good range of shops and take aways. Would recommend the town trail around Cockermouth.

We had a wonderful stay at this charming holiday cottage! It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing break. The location was peaceful and perfect for unwinding, yet close enough to local attractions and amenities. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and made us feel very welcome. We espRead moreecially loved the thoughtful little touches that made it feel like a home away from home. Would absolutely stay again highly recommended! Hide

We really enjoyed our week, the area was nice and quiet, with easy driving access to Cockermouth, Keswick and the surrounding area. It was handy having the cottage owners next door, who were happy to help if needed.
