This cottage is situated in the village of Near Sawrey, one of the best-loved destinations in the Lake District. The village is famous for being the home of Beatrix Potter, and her house Hill Top. A highly regarded village pub is located across the road is perfect for when you don't feel like cooking or just fancy a cosy pint in the afternoon. Continuing on the road that runs through the village, through the neighbouring village of Far Sawrey, visitors will come to the shore of Lake Windermere and the departure point for the ferry which runs across the lake to Bowness, one of the main centres for outdoor activities on the lake, as well as being a bustling town with a good range of shops and eateries.

This cottage makes a delightful place to stay in one of the Lake District’s best-loved villages, and it even features in one of Beatrix Potter’s tales. To the front of this elegant double-fronted property, the lounge offers a stylish and comfortable place to relax and unwind, with its bay window, two inviting sofas, a cosy wood burner, and a TV with Sky channels, and a Blu-ray player. The dining room is open-plan to lounge, yet feels like a separate space, as they are separated by the entranceway. This room has another bay window which floods the space with light, and is furnished with a large glass timing table, as well as comfy chair. The utility room, just off the games den, is where the utility room with the washing machine and tumble dryer are kept. A shower room, meanwhile, can be found beyond the utility room and offers a shower and WC. The kitchen, located towards the rear of the property, is well-equipped with everything that guests will need including an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher.

Stairs lead to the first floor where three of the property’s bedrooms are situated. Two of these are restful double rooms, whist the third is a pleasant twin room. A further set of stairs lead up to the attic bedroom, another double room which has some reduced head-height due to the sloping ceiling. The en-suite bathroom to this bedroom is located just across the landing offering a walk-in shower and WC. The the main bathroom, on the first floor, has a bath, separate shower and WC.

We stayed at Meadowcroft for 2 weeks; 6 adults and 2 dogs. The house was perfect for all of us and in a great location. Everything we could need was in the kitchen, well stocked games cupboard and 2 of the bathrooms were a good size, comfortable beds and plenty of seating space in the front / dining room. Only down side was the low ceilings in the Read moreloft rooms; would be ok for children but not so good for adults. Lovely walks nearby. Would definitely recommend staying here. Hide

Fantastic cottage! Loved our stay there celebrating a special birthday. It's spacious but cosy and really well-equipped, including loads of games and books for a rainy day. There was also a lovely welcome pack of a bottle of wine and chutney
