Experienced hikers can take on England’s highest peak Scafell Pike (9.5 miles), or enjoy gentler family fell walks and thrilling mountain bike descents through the surrounding valleys. Go wild swimming in the cool waters of the River Esk. And find pretty Japanese gardens with a beautiful arched footbridge in hilly Giggle Alley (0.5 miles).
