Nestled into the lower slopes of Silver Howe, and overlooking Grasmere Water, this rustic five-bedroom property is a perfect location for a restorative get-together with family and friends. Enjoy the landscape, wildlife and fresh air of the endlessly captivating Lake District. The property sits just moments from the water’s edge, along a gently meandering lakeside road just 1 mile from the picturesque village of Grasmere. Known for having once been the home of the poet William Wordsworth, Grasmere visitors can explore Dove Cottage, the house Wordsworth shared with his poet sister Dorothy, and its lovely gardens, as well as the Jerwood Centre next door, a museum and library dedicated to his work. Hill Top, the home and garden of another equally beguiling Lakeland author, Beatrix Potter, is within easy reach too, just 10.5 miles away. A wonderful way to visit Hill Top is to take the ferry from Bowness-on-Windermere, 9 miles, and walk the 2-mile route up to the house, taking in the fell scenery that entranced the author.

A striking hallway with a Lakeland stone floor welcomes guests into this thoughtfully appointed property, offering seating as well as coat and boot storage. There’s a handy WC off the hallway here too. Two large lounge rooms offer relaxation space for an extended group – you’ll find a comfortable lounge with sofa and armchair seating for 12 gathered around a TV as well as a study with further sofa and armchair seating for seven. The property has a traditional farmhouse kitchen which enjoys lake views, and is equipped with a stylish range cooker. A separate utility room offers a washing machine and plentiful fridge, freezer and larder storage – essential for feeding a large group. A dining room with a beautiful, beamed ceiling and a grand dining table completes the social spaces. Further to this floor, there’s a family bedroom with a king-size bed and an additional single bed, and an en-suite shower room. Up on the first floor, there are two landings. One landing provides access to a king-size bedroom which has enchanting lake views and its own en-suite bathroom. The other landing accesses a king-size bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with a roll-top bath, a double room, and a twin room. An additional shower room and separate WC completes the indoor accommodation.

Outdoors, the tranquil, sloping shared garden has its own stream, as well as patio and lawn areas where you can sit on the picnic bench and make the most of the stunning surrounding scenery.

The house is well located and a very good size, with ample parking and lovely views. The kitchen is generally well equipped and had everything we needed for 4 children and 5 adults, although the fridge was quite small for the size of property (there was a very large freezer). It was nice to have some local treats on arrival. Our main issue with theRead more house was how cold it was in 3 of the upstairs bedrooms and one of the en-suites - we were staying in December/January and the heating timing couldnt be adjusted other than by boosting it for a couple of hours at a time and those rooms just didnt warm up. Overnight they were very cold. It would be a lovely property in warmer months but I would not return in the winter Hide

Outstanding location, spacious, beautiful cottage and garden. Very clean. We greatly enjoyed out time there. We recommend that the owners: updatethe WiFi password in the information book in the cottage, provide a brush to go with the dustpan, fix the plumbing so that the shower works properly in the main bedroom, and provide more in the way of starRead moreter materials such as dishwashing tools, soap etc. Hide

Spacious house with great views and location. Lots of room for people to spread out in, with a good variety of seating. With one exception, the beds were very comfortable. Location was wonderful - great views of the Lake and walks straight from the door. We didnt use the car at all in the week we stayed. Very easy walk down Ito Grasmere, and the swRead moreimmers in the group had a daily dip in the Lake, accessed about 5 minutes from the house. Hide

The Farm is situated in a beautiful part of the world, its approximately one mile from Grasmere which has a range of shops, which served all our needs. It is an ideal location for Hillwalking and transport links to Ambleside and Keswick are good [including Public transport]. Would recommend.

The living and dining areas of the farmhouse are spacious and the bedrooms are a reasonable size, although the mirror doors in one ensuite don't glide and the other ensuite lacks storage space. The showers have little power upstairs and the hot taps trickle. The downstairs shower (and those in the barn) are fine. The heating is good though and easRead morey to use. The beds are comfy and the bed linen is good quality. There were insufficient drinking glasses but otherwise the kitchen is well-equipped, although the frying pans have seen better days and the oven trays need a jolly good scrub. Some of the furnishings do need replacing (one sofa has a hole beneath the cushions) and there is mould on the back of the toilet curtains. I have to wonder why a 500 security deposit was necessary for this cottage as the standard does not warrant it. We did enjoy our stay in the farm, the issues raised are minor and fixable. The views are amazing from the house. Hide
