Coniston Water and Lake Windermere are both situated within a short drive of the property and offer plenty of opportunities for boat rides, water sports, and scenic walks around their shores, or visit Grizedale Forest which is just a few miles south of the village and offers stunning walks, fun Segway hire, a sculpture trail and a Go-Ape climbing centre.

As you enter this property you will be immediately struck by the design used to create something really special in this historic building. The entrance hall offers plenty of space for walking gear and is perfect for drying coats and jackets. The glass door leads to the contemporary kitchen/diner. The kitchen area is well-equipped with electric oven and induction hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer/dryer, and a TV and the L-shaped island creates a booth perfect for sharing romantic meals together. A sliding door leads to a contemporary shower room with shower and WC. The oak staircase leads up to the first floor where you will find the light and airy lounge, contemporary design, craftsmanship, the use of slate and oak combine to create a very special room. Guests can enjoy the views of the hills while relaxing on the soft leather sofa or venture out onto the balcony and enjoy the scenery and a coffee. The pebble effect gas fire creates a cosy ambience and the TV/DVD and sound system are perfect for unwinding at the end of the day. Continuing upstairs to the second floor a door leads you into the king-size bedroom with high ceiling and bespoke oak furniture. There are lovely views of the fells from both windows, a TV and a beautiful en-suite bathroom with bath and WC, the perfect place to relax after a busy day walking and exploring the Lake District.

Heading outside there is off-road parking for one car directly behind the property.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We had a great stay at Arresting View. The property is centrally located in Hawkshead and is a great base to explore the lakes. There are also quite a few walks from the doorstep so no need to take the car out everyday. The apartment is well equipped and makes the most of the space with lots of natural light and great views from the lounge and bedrRead moreoom. Perfect location in the village, property spec was superb, good base for walking from the property, very comfortable lounge, televisions with Netflix were a bonus. Outside tap and hose were useful for cleaning muddy dogs. Lovely unexpected welcome packs, very generous, with doggy one too.

After 15 years of staying in cottages around the Lakes, with no dogs / one dog / two dogs, this is by far the best in every aspect. From the 5 star finish to the attention to detail, and obviously the view, everything about it was perfect for a 2 week walking holiday with 2 dogs. The shower is amazing and the beautiful kitchen stopped us eating outRead more as much as usual. (It even has a set of knives sharp enough to actually chop food, a rare treat for a holiday cottage!) A splendidly comfortable accommodation which has been designed with an eye to detail, as well as being technically advanced. Great location, everything you need within 50 metres - Co-op, Chemist, Pubs, cafes, post office/newsagent.

Arresting View is an outstanding cottage...the best we have ever stayed in by a country mile. It is superbly appointed and everything is finished to the highest spec. It oozes luxury and certainly has the Wow factor. At the top end of the price scale but worth every penny. A beautiful and well-thought out conversion which was both stylish and comfortable. Ideally situated (4 pubs, well-stocked Co-op!)and many great walks from the village. A great find in the slightly elusive 2 + dog category.

Absolutely stunning- pictures dont do it justice. Beautifully renovated and feels really luxurious. Little welcome gifts (even for our doggy!) were a lovely touch. Situated in the centre of Hawkshead with some lovely walks nearby or Ambleside a short drive away. We will definitely return!
