Lovely peaceful location, 1 hour walk into Ambleside, 1 hour to elterwater which is well worth a visit, a pub at the bottom of the bank 8 minutes walk down about 15 uphill back and a lovely little cafe next to the river about 10 minutes walk, its vegan but still well worth a visit home baked bread and donuts are amazing. The cottage has a nice sharRead moreed garden at the back, they provide walking guides in the drawer under the table which was a nice touch and games to play. Hide

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
