This renovated Toll house is the perfect escape for family or friends looking to explore the Lake District. With some fantastic fells walks and the town of Keswick just a short drive away.

Within a mile of Bassenthwaite Lake, this welcoming property makes a fantastic holiday home for families and friends. Providing fresh and spacious accommodation for six guests, this beautifully renovated former tollhouse is a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding fells and the stunning scenery of the northern lakes. The cottage was built in the 1820s and retains many original features including the tollbooth area, stone flooring and exposed ceiling beams. Perfect for discovering the Lake District, the property is ideal for climbers, walkers, cyclists and nature lovers, with Skiddaw, Whitewater Dash and Over Water all within 7 miles.

On entering this colourful property, the open-plan lounge/diner provides a lovely main living space, divided by a dual-aspect wood burner in a traditional-style fireplace. The lounge is an ideal space to relax and snuggle up with a good book or a favourite movie, while the dining area is perfect for gathering for a family meal. The kitchen has everything you will need to cook up a storm, and the cottage has three relaxing bedrooms as well as a stylish main family bathroom. Outside, the patio enjoys superb views across the fells, and has plenty of outdoor furniture so you can enjoy some al fresco dining, or try to spot some of the local wildlife. There’s also a fenced garden area for your dogs.

This is a stunning part of the Lake District, with Bassenthwaite Lake just a mile south and local attractions including the Lake District Wildlife Park (within a quarter of a mile), the Lakes Distillery (1.5 miles) and Mirehouse and Gardens (4 miles). The bustling town of Keswick (9.5 miles) sits at the head of Derwentwater and is home to the Keswick Adventure Centre, Puzzling Place and the Derwent Pencil Museum.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations.
