Located within walking distance of shops, pubs and restaurants, this characterful two-bedroom cottage is to be found in the pretty village of Cartmel. Offering adults-only accommodation, it’s a perfect getaway for couples or friends, with some fantastic country walks on the doorstep. The shores of Lake Windermere are 6 miles away, making this an excellent base for exploring the area, while one dog is also welcome, so nobody needs to be left at home.

With subtle nods to its history, this delightful turn-of-the-century property boasts many contemporary touches to create a comfortable and inviting home. If you fancy eating in, then head into the well-equipped and stylish kitchen/diner where you’ll find everything you need to create a tasty meal for everyone to enjoy at the table. Retreat to the cosy lounge and put your feet up in front of the warming wood burner which adds to this elegant room’s ambience. Tastefully decorated in neutral, calming tones, the two upstairs bedrooms are both inviting and restful. Guests waking up in the king-size room will be treated to those lovely views over the fields. Outside, unwind with a glass of wine in the small courtyard with its charming patio garden – a lovely space to watch the sunset on a great day.

There are ample walking opportunities here. Explore the ancient woodland of Eggerslack Woods (3 miles) or travel a little further to Lake Windermere (7 miles) which boasts some great hikes, boat hire and water sports. Foodies need go no further than Cartmel itself to try out some great pubs or restaurants. Don’t forget to sample the sticky toffee pudding that makes this village so famous. Those craving a day at the beach should head to the pretty town of Grange-over-Sands, 2 miles away.

Cottage lovely and comfortable and a great location. Cartmel has to be the prettiest village in the Lake District. The perfect place to base yourselves as the pubs and restaurants are great to visit after a day touring round the Lakes.

Comfortable and bright cottage in a lovely location. Well equipped, however we dined out each evening. Cartmel is lovely, and has lots of fine dining options and lovely independent shops. Would definitely recommend this cottage and location.

We had a v relaxing time in this beautiful cottage. Bed, sofas etc were all very comfy and the dog friendly, enclosed courtyard was well used during a week of mainly sunny weather. We didnt cook during our stay, but could see that the kitchen was well equipped. There were basics provided such as tea, coffee and sugar and there was a bottle of proseRead morecco in the fridge when we arrived :) Cartmel was a great place to stay with so many places to eat (most welcome dogs) and lovely walks. This cottage was in a great position within a short walk of the centre of Cartmel, but in a quiet spot with great views. The facilities were excellent there was a shop two minutes away for any essentials.

A very nice house, a stones throw from a lovely pub and just around the corner from the village shop. Location is perfect for a number of walks from the property. No problem parking with the residents pass. Would definitely visit again.

Brookside is a great holiday cottage, clean & tidy. The quality of the furniture/kitchen equipment was 5star. The beds were comfortable & there was plenty of hot water - the shower was fab. Would have been nice to receive a welcome hamper - the bottle of fizz was not great. Cartmel is a foody place, theyre missing a trick! Nothing else is supplied Read more- be sure to take all cooking condiments such as oil/ sauces. I was surprised that past guests havent left things for future guests! Hide

This cottage is a delight , tastefully decorated, very clean. Free Wi-Fi and Sky Q, great for a night in after a long walk. Very comfortable beds/ Sofas/ good shower, the kitchen /dining room is lovely and well equiped. Didn't get to use the courtyard but in summer it would be lovely. The cottage is in a prime spot , local shop & Pig & Whistle Pub Read morein striding distance and centre of Cartmel with its shop/pubs/restaurants 5 min walk max. Perfect ! Look forward to returning.
