Luxuriate in a stay at this unique, ground-floor apartment, less than 1 mile from Hawkshead and with panoramic views out over Esthwaite Water. The stylish, two-bedroom holiday home, which sleeps four guests, is set within an elegant, period country house, in the southern Lake District, about 1.5 miles from Windermere. Perfect for two couples or a small family, the apartment sits within parkland grounds of approximately 40 acres that reach right down to the shores of Esthwaite Water and include a play area.

Step into the apartment, to find interesting and quirky features such as a large map of the Lake District covering one wall. Wander into the bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with its colourful decor to recline on the comfortable seating; find a film on the Smart TV or play games. Whip up delicious meals in the kitchen area then pull up a chair to dine together at the table by the beautiful bay window. Discover both bedrooms are super-king-size but with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins in advance. The family bathroom is close by. Make the most of the apartment’s setting by exploring the grounds, taking a rowing boat out on to the water in the summer and watching the children play pitch and putt or table tennis. There is a shared laundry on the site and parking is available.

Stroll into Hawkshead to pick up local produce or eat out; visit the Beatrix Potter gallery while you are here. Drive 5 miles into Ambleside for a much broader choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. Take a carriage or walk just over 0.5 miles from the centre of Ambleside to Waterhead to take a cruise out on Windermere. Hire your own motorboat here too to explore the expanse of water at your own speed.

  • 2 Bedrooms - super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into twins on request)

Fabulously presented property. Initial impression on arrival, was more isolated than led to believe, but it really isn't. Its genuinely reasonable walking distance to village, mostly along footpath although short distance is on roadside. All needs thought of, home from home. Lovely welcome by on site caretaker & gift of local treats. Loved the peacRead moreefulness of the location & local walk from rear of premises highly recommended. Only 2 of us, but very spacious so 4 people would be very comfortable Hide

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
