First-floor apartment enjoying a prime location in a country estate house, surrounded by 40 acres of grounds on the shore of Esthwaite Water.

Offering stunning views of Esthwaite Water, a fantastic fishing lake and an inspiration to Wordsworth, this charming apartment, which has been converted from a quintessential English country estate house dating back to the nineteenth century, could not be more appealingly situated. Each apartment enjoys magnificent views of both the lake and the surrounding mountain scenery including the Langdales, Coniston and Wetherlam ranges. Hawkshead, one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District, is just two miles away. Ambleside, Coniston, Grizedale and Grasmere are within easy reach, and Windermere and Bowness are just a short ferry ride away. With breath-taking scenery and activities for the whole family, including hiking, kayaking, biking and fishing, this idyllic spot guarantees a memorable holiday.

On entering this charming and bright first-floor apartment, you will find yourself in the airy and welcoming open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area. The delightful and comfy lounge offers TV, DVD and CD, and a coal effect electric fire in an attractive fireplace. The owners have added lots of books, maps and DVDs to help you enjoy your stay. From the window seat you can revel in the magnificent panoramic view of Esthwaite Water and the mountains and woodlands beyond. Moving over to the stylish and elegant kitchen, you will find everything you may need, including an electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The dining area is ideally situated and is perfect whether you’re sitting down to a special meal or grabbing a snack. Exploring further you will find two light and comfy bedrooms. There is a super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into twin beds upon request) which has stunning countryside views, as well as an en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath and WC. There is also a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room with WC. This bedroom has access to a small private balcony, ideal for relaxing with a coffee or glass of wine as you take in the spectacular view.

Stepping outside, you can enjoy the glorious views and the beauty of the landscaped gardens and surrounding woodlands. The property enjoys private lake frontage - a perfect space for an evening picnic.  You can also explore approximately 40 acres of gardens and woodlands. There is also a children’s play area with swings, climbing frame and outside table tennis. There is ample off-road parking available.

Fantastic apartment with breathtaking views. The complementary bag was lovely and it was nice to have a pint of milk in the fridge. Was ideally situated for some amazing walks in the area.

Flat 7 has a superb view of Esthwaite Water and with the balcony this makes it my favourite flat at Broom Riggs. If you want somewhere quiet to relax this is the right place, however, if you want a base to be able to go walking, then this is also the right place. There is a nice, easy going walk from the rear of the property to Moss Eccles Tarn whiRead morech doesn't take long and does not involve any strenuous walking. Wonderful apartment, very well equipped with everything you need. Set in a fabulous location, with great views of the lake. Lots of wild life on your doorstep too. Plenty of local walks, and with in walking distance to the village of Hawkshead.

Despite the beginning of March and a mid week break, the flat was warm as we entered. The new double glazed windows are so efficient. Alan had filled the bird feeder below the window and we saw tits, nuthatches and woodpeckers. The flat was comfortable, well equipped and the views from the first floor were fantastic. We had one day walking with bluRead moree skies and warm enough not to need gloves. We seemed to see the spring flowers opening through the day. The second walking day was very misty so we enjoyed some moody lowland walking. Such a refreshing stay. Thank you. Hide

We had a perfect week at Broomriggs 7. It was our first visit and we will definitely return. Comfortable, well equipped with beautiful gardens. The rowing boats on the Lake are a great bonus- we saw Ospreys, Herons and Cormorants close up. The location is very peaceful but has good access to many beautiful walks. We recommend Rydal Mount, WordswortRead moreh's home, walks along Lake Windermere and Coniston and the drive over the Kirkstone pass. Hide

Yet another fine holiday at Broomriggs - yes we even had good weather! Number 7 gives especially good views of that gorgeous scenery, and it's always a pleasure to return, as we've done many times.
