It’s situated within a large country house which overlooks Esthwaite Water and guests can enjoy private lakeside access during their stay. Local pubs, shops and a restaurant are within 2 miles, while Lake Windermere and Coniston Water are a short drive away.

With contemporary yet homely decor and furnishings, this property is a lovely retreat for your holiday. Snuggle up on the comfortable chairs in the spacious lounge/diner and enjoy a relaxing night together with a film and a glass of wine. On chillier evenings, the electric fire adds some extra cosiness. If you’re in the mood to cook, then the compact kitchen is equipped with everything you need to rustle up something special for your loved one. A restful night’s sleep awaits in the welcoming bedroom, which has a calming ambience. You’ll find plenty of space outside to really soak up the beauty of your surroundings in the 40 acres of shared gardens, with plenty of seating which is perfect for watching the sun set over the mountains. If you’re in the mood for a game, the on-site children’s playground has its own pitch and putt golf course, too.

Enjoy a gentle stroll around the lakeside, with private access for guests. Dine at one of the country pubs in nearby Hawkshead (1 mile) before taking a wander around the famous Beatrix Potter Gallery. Enjoy a pleasure cruise at Lake Windermere (4 miles) or Coniston Water (6 miles) or if you’re looking for something more active, try out one of the many water sports on offer there. If the walking boots still need some use, then the many woodland trails at Grizedale Forest (4 miles) should keep you both busy for hours.

We had a great week and the accommodation was fine. Whilst the dcor was a bit tired and dated it all worked well enough the location, views and grounds more than made up. We would certainly not hesitate to book it again.

Location is brilliant quiet and relaxing but close enough to Hawkshead for meals and all local amenities. The grounds to the house are fantastic well looked after by Alan and Patrica. The house offers some lovely little extras such as the rowing boats and the golf as well as a very useful drying room and the milk man.

The apartment was very comfortable, set in beautiful grounds and had a wonderful view from the lounge however the bathroom in particular would benefit from being updated. It is a mile to the nearest shop in Hawkshead There are also quite a number of steps to climb to get to the apartment so care needed in wet weather.

The location of this property is wonderful. We had apartment 9 which was perfect for 2. The dining table had glorious views over the lake and despite the awful (November) weather we had a fabulous break.

We love the peace and quiet and views from Broomriggs and the warden is very friendly. We have stayed in one or other of the flats for 25 years or more. The compact kitchen has everything we need. However the bathroom we feel is due for an upgrade. The gift bag of local produce was most welcome as was the milk in the fridge.

Quiet and peaceful with good views over the lake. On a warm day it would be nice to sit on the furniture outside with a glass! and admire the garden and the view. Alan, the on site warden, is a very helpful man.
