Perfect for couples, this well-presented cottage with original features, modern comforts and a sunny garden is an ideal base for exploring Keswick and the surrounding Lake District National Park.

Set on a quiet lane close to Keswick’s lively marketplace, this cottage is just a short walk from the small town’s independent shops, pubs, theatre and cinema. A gentle 0.5-mile walk will bring you to Derwentwater’s shore, where an 8-mile circular walk or a 50-minute lake cruise can be enjoyed. Hop off the cruise at Ashness Gate for a walk up to Ashness Bridge and Surprise View high above the valley. Or alight at Lingholm to view the walled garden that inspired Beatrix Potter’s Mr McGregor’s garden before grabbing a bite to eat at the cafe. Beyond the lake, there is plenty to see and do including taking an underground tour at Honister Slate Mine or discovering ancient history at the mysterious Castlerigg Stone Circle.

Inside, this charming cottage for two boasts a tasteful blend of old and new. Rustle up romantic meals in the modern kitchen with its exposed beams and open-plan dining space. Here you will find a fan oven, ceramic hobs, washing machine and fridge/freezer. With a large sash window, tasteful decor and elegant furnishings, the lounge is a relaxing space for whiling away the evenings in front of the large Smart TV. A handy wet room with shower completes the ground floor. Heading upstairs, the king-size bedroom is light and airy with a feature fireplace and wonderful fell views. Also on this floor is a spacious bathroom with shower over the bath.

Outside, the cottage garden is a peaceful place to enjoy an al fresco drink surrounded by a white picket fence and mature shrubs. To the rear of the house is a designated parking space for one car.

Fantastic little place. I could live there. Great location right in the centre set behind main thoroughfare literally a few minutes from from shops and pubs and coffee shops but really quiet and also has the added bonus of a private parking space and also a small garden over the private path to the front. It's also a short walk to the lake. Well eqRead moreuipped, comfortable and clean. It also the warmest bathroom ever :). All in all an excellent place I am already looking to re book for next year. Lovely cottage, close to the town and all the shops and bars. Very clean and warm place to stay. Room for one car - plenty of room width wise - some longer cars may block the neighbours drive.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
