As a former village "Lock-Up" the property was a place of temporary detention for rogues and miscreants and was awarded listed status in 1970. In the heart of Cartmel, lying between the Lake District National Park and Morecambe Bay Coastline, the village is a "go-to" destination for foodies with Simon Rogan's two 'starred' restaurants a short stroll away. Staying in this property, you can take advantage of the array of good quality restaurants, charming shops and pubs all within easy walking distance. Cartmel is also home to an impressive Norman Priory as well as its own racecourse which holds meetings on certain bank holiday weekends and hosts a range of other events throughout the year. There are some fantastic walks to enjoy close to the village and of course, the picturesque Lake District is a short drive away.
Venture through the front door of this tiny former jail and you will find a small area with tea and coffee making facilities, a welcome hamper and a small fridge. There's also a built-in wardrobe with ample space for coats, clothing and walking boots, as well as additional blankets to wrap up warm when enjoying the (heated) outside space. You will also find the contemporary wet room on this floor with shower and WC and under floor heating. Heading up the narrow stairs to the first floor you'll discover the sumptuous bedroom with its romantic four poster double bed and Smart TV with Sonos sound bar.
In the courtyard, you will find the patio area where you can rest and enjoy a morning coffee and the night skies in the evening beneath the wall heater. There is also a shared utility room across the courtyard with washing machine, tumble dryer and ample space to store your bikes securely. There is a parking permit available for one car.
