It’s a great location for exploring the northern lakes as well as the stunning Solway coast, with its sandy beaches. There are some superb walking and cycling routes to be found in the surrounding countryside, making this a great choice if you’re looking to get back to nature and enjoy the great outdoors. Two dogs are also welcome, meaning the whole family can enjoy themselves.

Pack a picnic and head to Allonby’s beautiful sandy beach, before popping in for a drink at your local pub 1 mile away. For independent shops and great places to eat, visit William Wordsworth’s birthplace, Cockermouth, 10.5 miles away. Blow the cobwebs away with a climb to the summit of Skiddaw (20 miles), where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views. Adopt a quieter pace with a stroll around Derwentwater (23 miles) or hop on a pleasure boat and enjoy it from the water.
