It’s a great location for exploring the northern lakes as well as the stunning Solway coast, with its sandy beaches. There are some superb walking and cycling routes to be found in the surrounding countryside, making this a great choice if you’re looking to get back to nature and enjoy the great outdoors. Settle down for a peaceful night’s sleep in the bright and welcoming bedroom, which also features a second bed, making it ideal for small families. Outside, take a seat in your private enclosed patio and watch the sun go down as you take in the views of Skiddaw and the Cumbrian landscape.

Pack a picnic and head to Allonby’s beautiful sandy beach, before popping in for a drink at your local pub 1 mile away. For independent shops and great places to eat, visit William Wordsworth’s birthplace, Cockermouth, 10.5 miles away. Blow the cobwebs away with a climb to the summit of Skiddaw (20 miles), where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views. This cottage was absolutely lovely. It was exactly like the pictures. The cottage was truly dog friendly - no carpet and had a wet room which was great for washing off sand paws from visiting the beach. The owners were really lovely and although it is a working farm, you really didnt notice. We will definitely look at going back

Lovely cottage about 10-15 minutes walk from Allonby itself. Very cosy but equipped with everything that you would need. It was the perfect retreat for Christmas and the views are lovely too. We had been let down on our original booking (not via holiday cottages!) so booked this last minute and I'm so glad we did. The people that let us down did usRead more a huge favour. Hide

The cottage is very cosy and clean, exactly what you look for in a country retreat. It is based on the edge of a farm but we found this to be great - there wasnt much farmyard noise, just a really nice feeling of being away from the city.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage had all the facilities you would want, very comfortable and nicely decorated & the owner very friendly and approachable. The beach was fantastic. Lovely quiet area with friendly people and no litter.

Rural farm location near Allonby Beach but adjacent building work converting another barn resulted in extra morning noise to add to tractors and rooks! Interior needs modernising.

Very nice location, cottage was very clean and ideal for visiting the lakes, I can't think of anything that the cottage requires, everything is there. There's not a lot in Allonby itself but Maryport is only 15 mins drive away. Brenda (the owner) is very helpful with anything. Will definitely recommend to friends/family.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
