Attractive barn conversion cottage, contemporarily styled and yet retaining some lovely period features, located on the edge of Hawkshead village.

Exuding character, this charming barn conversion is a great choice for friends or family looking to spend some quality time away together. Located just a short stroll from the popular village of Hawkshead, the three-storey accommodation can sleep up to five guests. With many great walks on the doorstep and Lake Windermere a short drive away, this is a great base from which to explore the area.

With many period features, this attractive home has a contemporary yet traditional feel. To enter, you first cross several steps over a low wall, which acts as a stile, to lead into the courtyard. In the stylish kitchen/diner, which boasts underfloor heating, there’s plenty to keep even the busiest of cooks entertained. Enjoy the results of your efforts at the dining table, before everyone retires to the colourful lounge where the cosy wood burner is certain to be a hit while you all unwind on the comfortable sofas. One of the bedrooms is located on this level: an en-suite and beautifully styled room with a vaulted ceiling and exposed brickwork. On the first floor, you’ll find a cosy single room while cottage-style steps lead to a gorgeous double attic room on the second floor, with sloping ceilings. Step outside and enjoy some al fresco drinks and dining on one of your two patio areas while soaking up the peace and quiet.

Hawkshead is proud of its literary connections and a visit to the Beatrix Potter Gallery is a must for fans of her books. Take in the beauty of Lake Windermere (4.5 miles) on a boat trip, before following the footpath to Claife Heights, a purpose-built viewing platform that looks over the lake. For a family day of adventures, Grizedale Forest (3.5 miles) has woodland walks, sculpture trails and even Segway riding.

Quiet location & lovely walks from the doorstep, no need to use the car. Near to pubs, shops and NT properties. Comfortable, cosy feel but good size family rooms.

We spent Christmas at the cottage and it was perfect. Everything we needed was right there, along with a wonderful log fire and underfloor heating - it was so cosy! It is a 10 minute walk into Hawkshead, which we did not attempt in the dark, but the location of the cottage is great. We definitely hope to return!! Thank you

Ducklin Cottage is a gorgeous, comfy, cosy cottage which is deceptively spacious. Ideally placed to explore Hawkshead, just a 5 minute walk into the village centre, and there are many walks straight from the front door. Underfloor heating in the kitchen particularly lovely, and logs were provided for the woodburner.

We had a fabulous holiday at Ducklin Cottage. A real home from home where we could relax at the end of the day and it's a nice easy walk into Hawkshead to the local pub and shop!

A lovely cottage, beautifully furnished. It felt like home rather than a cottage furnished to rent out. It was very comfortable and has a well equipped kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were good, especially the downstairs en-suite. The location was good for us, not in the village centre but just a 10 minute walk away. We would lRead moreove to have stayed longer. Hide

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
