This cottage was just perfect! Very comfortable surroundings in a lovely wee village but lacked shops. You would have to drive a few miles to the nearest amenities.

A lovely cottage. Cosy, well stocked with lots of cutlery/crockery etc in the kitchen and some lovely treats on arrival. Great amenities including sky, Netflix etc and good wifi. Beautiful, peaceful location. A nice green around the corner perfect for early morning/late night dog walks. Easy access to LakeDistrict and beaches. I'd advise following Read morethe directions provided rather than your satnav as the roads to the village are quite small! The only drawback was no pub within walking distance. Hide

We had a wonderful stay at Duke Cottage. Rachael had thought of everything to ensure we had a comfortable stay and the cottage is really well equipped with everything you could need and all in very good condition. Excellent little cottage, with great facilities for its size, set in a lovely quiet village near the coast. The owners were very responsive and helpful, and made our week stay in the area very relaxing and comfortable. The location was good, being close to both the coastal areas and south lakes in particular - approx 40 minutes from Bowness.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
