Set within a large former gentleman’s retreat, this beautiful garden apartment for four people is perfect for adventurers and lovers of the great outdoors. Surrounded by extensive grounds, it enjoys a stunning location under the shadow of Skiddaw and just 2 miles from the bustling town of Keswick. The landscape around it offers ample opportunities for scenic walks and mountain bike rides.

Full of charm and with many characterful period features, this is an elegant and comfortable home. Guests enter through the conservatory, which is a light space that’s perfect for taking in the view with a glass of wine, whatever the weather is up to. The lounge/diner is spacious and tastefully decorated, with a wood burner at its heart, which makes this a great place for everyone to unwind and put their feet up. Enjoy leisurely meals late into the evening at the dining table, which you will be able to rustle up in no time in the contemporary and stylish kitchen. The two restful bedrooms will be a welcome haven at the end of a busy day of exploring, ensuring a restful night’s sleep awaits. Take a seat in the extensive shared gardens which consist of lawns and terraced areas, perfect for soaking up the holiday atmosphere with a glass of something cold.

There are some excellent local walks and trails to follow in the area. Pop to Keswick (3 miles) and meander around its shops, museums and restaurants. While there, trek to the spectacular Castlerigg Stone Circle, which boasts panoramic views over to peaks such as Helvellyn and High Seat. If you’re feeling adventurous, hike to the summit of Skiddaw, which is 6 miles away. Bassenthwaite Lake (8.5 miles) is the most northerly lake in the region and is a popular destination for boating enthusiasts.

We had a lovely stay and this place is ideally located for the Carl Side route up Skiddaw and easy access to lots of other lakes and highlights. The cottage is well appointed, in particular the kitchen and there was everything we needed. Comfy beds and lots of places to sit and relax after a busy day exploring. The one thing that was not clear to uRead mores was that we had misunderstood that this was an annex to one main house inhabited by a family but actually it is one of many cottages and apartments. The cottage is in a great location. There is ample parking and a numerous walks from the property or nearby surroundings . The owners were nice and suggested some walks.

This was our second time at Garth Cottage and we stayed for 2 weeks this time with our 6 month baby and the grandparents. Its such a wonderful place in terms of location and style and we felt very comfortable there. There are a couple of little things that need a bit of maintenance. Well be back again in the future.

Garth Cottage is in a spectacular place and is a beautiful property. We loved our visit and would go back in a heartbeat. The grounds of the house are wonderful. It's like having a self-catering flat at a superb country house hotel. We had a wood fire in the lovely stove every night and enjoyed snuggling into the big sofas in front of it. The property is very well equipped especially the kitchen. There are plenty of different seating options. The king size bed is very comfortable. The lounge is quite dark and we needed the light on during the day. There is a good choice of books and DVd's, also OS maps, but was missing one for the area you are in. Had issues with heating as noted abRead moreove. When people were in flat above the floor creaked really badly and you could clearly hear their television. Views from property very good. Hide

The location of Garth Cottage is wonderful. I think that the sitting room was the original billiards room when it was a grand house, so it is very spacious! The cottage is very comfortable with everything you could need and we would certainly return again.

A beautiful location, we could have just sat on the terrace all week & enjoyed the stunning views. The hidden garden & ornamental pond were delightful. An early evening glass of fizz sitting by the pond was magical on a sunny day. A splendid place to stay & perfectly located to enjoy the beautiful scenery of The Lakes. Thank you

Fantastic Week. We loved Garth Cottage and will definately go back. It was a home from home for us. The cottage is very comfortable and well equiped. The views from the terrace are stunning and the weather was great too. .

This is our second visit to Garth Cottage - the cottage is in a fabulous location, great views but only minutes from Keswick. The sitting room has a real 'wow' factor whilst the rest of the accommodation is pretty good. The only downside for us was the noise from the neighbours above - creaking floorboards, conversations and the TV on both night anRead mored day which could be clearly heard from below. Hide

This cottage is in an ideal position for Keswick and for visiting the rest of the Lake District. It is very well equipped with high quality linen and kitchen utensils.
