Lovely stay in a very lovely cottage. Ann is extremely helpful. Dog owners, note that the wall is low in some places in the garden, and easy for bouncy hounds to hop over if tempted, straight into the bend of a road. The cottage is in a lovely spot, fabulous walks from the door and a lovely pub over the road. If you're looking for super modern fixtRead moreures etc, this isn't for you. But if you want a comfortable (good bed), practical, well equipped spot for great walking, it's spot on. Thank you. Hide

We arrived to spend Christmas at Gate Cottage with our dogs, our second visit to this beautiful cottage. On arrival Ann had left all sorts of Christmas goodies, not just for us, but for the dogs too, squeaky balls are always a hit! With Christmas decorations up, it made the cottage very festive. A delightful cottage in an excellent location for the Northern Lakes. It's quiet and out of the way, in an ideal position for walking to fells such as Blencathra. The house is well-equipped, with lots of helpful guides to the Lake District provided on the bookshelves. The wifi coverage is very good and it is easy to while away the hours on a rainy Read moreday whilst reading a book. The views from the front door are superb and I would not hesitate to return. Hide
