We loved our stay at Grass Guards cottage. It is really cosy with nice decor and with a lovely view across the mountains from its high vantage top. Being on a public footpath there are lovely walks from your door. The Duddingston Valley is rugged and exceptionally beautiful. The house is in a very remote location though (which we liked but others mRead moreay not) so come well supplied! We would highly recommend it overall. Hide

Lovely, spacious, beautiful cottage! Very remote location, fantastic walks from the doorstep, super kitchen. Loved sitting in front of the big windows with a book on rainy days. The access track to the entrance is long and rocky, takes about ten mins to drive through. It's worth bringing drinking water with you if you're a fussy person like we are Read more:) To help keep eco-cistern systems, non-bio/eco shower gel, etc is nice to have. We loved the warmth of the cottage and the stunning views. Hide

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
