Set on the outskirts of Bassenthwaite, this picturesque cottage makes a traditional and welcoming holiday getaway for five guests. Overlooking the village green, the property offers cosy accommodation perfect for friends and families seeking an idyllic holiday retreat in the northern part of the Lake District. Retaining plenty of original features including a warming wood burner, wooden beams and stone flooring, this delightful property is just a couple of miles from the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake and makes a fabulous getaway for eager walkers, nature lovers and climbers.

 

Entering this welcoming property, the cosy lounge has a lovely, beamed ceiling, with a roaring wood burner, Smart TV and plenty of seating, providing a peaceful space for everyone to sit back, watch a movie or chat about the day’s adventures. Stepping through to the dining area, this is a lovely space for enjoying a family meal together while taking in the views towards Skiddaw. The ground floor also has a charming and fully equipped kitchen, as well as a handy shower room. Going upstairs, there are three bright and cheerful bedrooms: two king size and a single. Please note, two of the bedrooms have low sloping ceilings. There’s also a family bathroom on the first floor. Outside, the pretty country garden is a charming spot for sitting out on a lazy summer’s evening.

 

The cottage is close to a friendly village pub and makes a great base for exploring the northern part of the Lake District. Lying in the shadow of Skiddaw (5 miles), Bassenthwaite is perfect for climbers and hikers, with Binsey, Lowthwaite Fell and Whitewater Dash all in the vicinity. Other local attractions include Mirehouse and Gardens (3.5 miles), the Lake District Wildlife Park (2 miles) and the bustling town of Keswick (7 miles).

A really lovely cottage. Can't fault it. Lots of space for the food we brought for 7 days over Christmas. 2 fridges which were really useful and a good sized freezer. Had a great family week at this property. It is pretty, spacious and well equipped, in a wonderful quiet spot in a classic rural working Lakeland village. Near a great classic pub. Pretty, small garden. Welcome pack, super selection of what to do info, games. Hills large, small, walks/cycling on the doorstep, and activities and many hotspots in reaRead morech. Perfect holiday cottage: comfortable well equipped and in an ideal location for walking, enjoying the countryside and relaxing. We were able to park directly outside the cottage and it was very safe for our dog- the enclosed garden was a bonus and we were able to eat outside in the lovely sunshine. Beautiful little cottage, perfect as a base for our family to explore the surroundings. The cottage was welcoming and cozy and great for our small dog. The log fire was perfect after a long day of walking. We really appreciated all the homely touches and having a great pub a few minutes walk away was brilliant. Comfortable cottage in quiet, lovely location. Great walks from here - Up Skiddaw for a longer walk, but just a short walk to the The Sun for beer and supper.

Absolutely loved it. Really relaxing with views of the hills and lambs (close up). So many walks from the door, and a short drive offers even more.
