Heathwaite Farm, The Old Cottage, is a great place to base yourself for your Lakes holiday. It is clean, has a good standard of equipment and is very comfortable providing the local feel of the area. The lane to the farm is very narrow and steep but my Audi A6 coped no problem. It's a little walk into the village which is nice with a pub, The Old SRead moreun, on the way should you need refreshment. However, the steep climb back could be difficult for the elderly or you've been in the pub too long! Hide

Such a beautiful and relaxing location, surrounded by wildlife with views from your front door. On arrival and to our surprise we found that meditation and reiki are also offered. We did a family guided meditation for 30 minutes which was really centring and relaxing. Also tried Reiki for the first time. A very cosy, comfortable cottage. Perfect if peace and quiet are what you are after - fabulous walks from the doorstep. A relatively short walk down to the village, or a few minutes drive.

Gorgeous cottage. Atmosphere was cosy and welcoming. Views of the lake and mountain. We lit the fire one eve which was lovely. New owners were lovely. Only just taken over so I suspect they'll be checking reviews to make improvements where needed. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't dirty just needs a spring clean to freshen it up. Good location overlooking lake Coniston however the 15 min walk is up a very steep hill. Car access is a pain by anything bigger than a fiat 500. Our Volvo estate car was a challenge to get in and out. Property in real need of maintenance, renovation and a good clean. Wi-fi hotspot is very weak so pretty useless down stairs. Overall the property waRead mores acceptable but we didnt feel good value for money given the other properties available in the Lake District. Hide

This was a lovely cottage in a wonderful, secluded location, with direct access up onto the Coniston Old Man footpaths. Although it was simply furnished, it was cosy, comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. The access road is narrow and steep, but this didnt present any difficulties, and we liked being away from the village.

We had a lovely week at heathwaite farm. Despite the cold weather we were kept warm and comfortable. Some of the equipment was a little basic for self catering for a week. Stairs were a little tricky for my elderly mother. But great location, lovely views, would recommend.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
