Attractive stone barn sleeping five guests on the outskirts of Bowness-on-Windermere, an ideal destination for walking, cycling and trying a variety of water sports on lake Windermere.

The countryside surrounding Lake Windermere is renowned for being a windswept wilderness of rugged hills, imposing mountains and rolling green fields divided by charming dry-stone walls. Your comfortable accommodation offers sleeping space for up to five guests, so you could soon be exploring near and far with a flask of coffee and tasty snacks in tow. Navigate the water by boat, travelling from Bowness-on-Windermere (1 mile away) across to Ambleside whilst soaking up the scenery. Disembark and prepare to be impressed, browsing the specialist shops and pausing for a bite to eat in one of the cafes, tearooms or restaurants. Visit the striking Stock Ghyll Force waterfall, admire the quaint Bridge House, or browse the museum before returning across the water in time for tea.

Characterised by high ceilings, exposed beams and an open fire, the split-level lounge/diner provides a spacious setting for relaxing. Upon entering the property you’ll find yourself in the dining area with a table and seating for six next to the French doors, three steps lead up into the large lounge area where the fire is positioned along with seating, a TV and DVD. Overlooking the beautiful garden, the stylish kitchen is equipped with an electric oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, and a washing machine. There is a separate WC, and the family bathroom is a sanctuary after a busy day thanks to the shower over the bath and WC. The first bedroom you’ll come to is a triple room with storage and king-size zip and link (which can be made into a twin on request, must be stated at the time of booking) and single bed. Completing the property is the master bedroom with its double bed, storage and handy en-suite shower room featuring a shower and WC.

On sunny evenings your private patio is a delight for al fresco meals and drinks, but the shared garden is a pleasure to explore with a large amount of lawn space, an orchard and a BBQ area. Ample parking is available.

Fabulous cottage in a great location near enough to shops etc but far enough to be quiet and peaceful Always clean and well appointed Good kitchen for people who like to cook Nice bath & shower

We really enjoyed our stay at Helm Lune holiday cottage it was a great escape for me and my family. We are looking to book again in the new year during school holidays as we enjoyed it that much, the gift packs of washing up kit and welcome pack were a nice touch and contained things that we found helpful and used, I would definately recommend anyoRead morene with a larger family to book this cottage, it is in a great location for accessing windermere, Thankyou very much Andy & Family Hide

The 4 of us have been going on annual holidays for over 35 years and we all agreed Helm Lune was in our top 3 of all time. The cottage was warm, really well laid out and appointed, everything was really good quality, beds very comfortable and it was an absolute joy to stay at. Lovely comfortable, clean and well equipped property. Excellent location for access to amenities and places of interest. Plenty of walks straight from the door. We very much enjoyed our week and were blessed with good weather. We would certainly recommend this cottage.

Lovely cottage, comfortable beds, open fire in spacious lounge, plenty of seating. Good kitchen space which is well equipped. Frying pans could do with replacing. Access is along a very narrow lane with a couple of very sharp bends and not many pull ins. The Tesco delivery man would not risk the bends so parked in the lay-by and brought the crates Read moreup by trolley. Having said that we didnt meet any cars coming the other way all week!
