Enjoying the best of both worlds, find peace and tranquillity in this rural location, with the shops, cafes and restaurants of Bowness within a mile.

The village of Bowness has a cinema, museums, shops and eateries, and you can hop on and off the steamer around Windermere Lake. Windermere is a vibrant bustling village with independent shops, stylish bars and many different eateries. Tackle low-level walks near the lake or set off high up into the fells. Take a trip to The World of Beatrix Potter, 1 mile away, and history enthusiasts will love visiting the stately homes nearby including Sizergh, Levens Hall and Holker Hall, all within 15 miles. Walkers and hikers can spend a day exploring the mountains and tarns of Langdale Valley, 10 miles away. At the end of a busy day, treat yourself to a well-deserved meal at one of the many traditional pubs.

Small but perfectly formed, this ground-floor studio apartment is part of a complex of properties in a converted barn. Open plan throughout, warm wooden floors and cream walls are punctuated with splashes of colour, creating a stylish and welcoming interior. Enter through a small hallway and find the shower room to the right. The studio is L-shaped, with the double bed tucked away to the left, with a chest of drawers and cupboard providing storage. The TV can be watched from the bed, perfect for cosy movie nights and early morning coffees. Two comfortable armchairs can be moved to face the TV, while a dining table for two is positioned between the living area and the kitchen. The compact kitchen is equipped with an electric oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, microwave and a fridge with an ice box, and has patio doors giving lovely views across to pasture and woodland divided by dry stone walls. In warm weather, open the doors and allow the fresh air to breeze in as you enjoy a romantic meal for two.

Outside to the front, find a bench and small table as well as the use of a shared lawn and BBQ area with rural views. Nearby, there is a small orchard, perfect for morning and evenings strolls in the peace and quiet. There is also a shared parking area.

Had a lovely stay at helm cottages surroundings were beautiful, will miss the fresh air and bird chorus first thing in morning. The cottages themselves were furnished with all our needs and a good location to visit the lakes from, would definitely go back.

Excellent cottage for ramblers, walkers ....paths in all directions . A little bit far out off Bowness to walk into town, but cottage great with all you need for a comfortable break.

We stayed for just a couple of nights at Helm Mint & found it to be very clean throughout, including utensils, bedding towels etc. It had everything we needed for our stay, excellent!

Small but well equipped, lots of storage, heated towel rails and outdoor line good for drying wet gear. Perfect for two. Lovely setting and very relaxed feel but be prepared for a but of a steep walk back from town, if you are reasonably fit it is fine. Very enjoyable stay, Bowness is great!

The cottage may be small but had all the requirements we needed. Situated in a very quiet area.with Great walks it is however located up a very steep narrow road that the wife found very difficult to walk up but don't let this put you off, once up believe me it's worth it.

This is a lovely little apartment set in a wonderfully quiet location. Although the track leading to it is a little daunting first time you soon get used to it and other than dog walkers we never met anything on it. Everything you need for a short break is supplied and the apartment was very clean.

Helm Mint was an outstanding property for 2 people. All the facilities we could have asked for. We had 4 wonderful days and walking distance down into town was pleasant, walk home not so nice up quite a steep hill if not fit.

We had an amazing break here the cottage was beautiful and had everything you need. The garden was beautiful and it was nice to sit out in the evenings I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to others

Lovely studio apartment, very clean and everything you could wish for in a beautiful location. Great walks straight from the door. Unless you are super fit you need a car to get out and about to the shops and Windermere along the narrow and steep lane to the Helm apartments.
