We have enjoyed staying at Heron Cottage for a number of years. The location to the village centre is ideal and it's one of the few cottages which allow parking outside. Heron cottage is a lovely place to stay that just needs a few minor tweaks. It was very close to the village and was very well equipped with everything we needed. The patio door was difficult to open so we found it was easier to take our dog out on her lead . The property was nice and warm which was great for the middle of November.

Excellent location and a very modern and clean cottage. We enjoyed our stay and the wooden floors were excellent for our boys (2 x choc labs) as they do tend to shed a bit. The 2 minute walk into the village for dinner at night was not too strenuous and the plentiful walks from the door in the daytime were excellent.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
