Comfortable cottage just a stroll from the heart of Hawkshead. Ideal for families but also for one or two couples. (Only parking for one car though) Lots of walks from the door & plenty to see & do in the area. The Tallow Tales ghost walk from The Kittchen is a good laugh!

Heron cottage was brilliant. The location is ideal & it was very clean & comfortable. We loved the welcome gifts - local tea bags, coffee, chocolate & Honeypots shortbread - a lovely surprise! The little yard/ garden was ideal with us having a dog and a 2 year old. Check in & out was really easy especially with their office also being in the villagRead moree & they were very helpful when the smoke detector battery needed changing, they came straight away to change it. Well definitely book again. Hide

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
