This is a functional, cozy, warm property with a lovely spot to enjoy a cup of tea with an amazing view. The nice owner lives above and respects your privacy and I didn't hear him walking about. Lovely location, walks straight from the door. Property does require damp sorting out and upgrading which is probably why its only two stars. The garden is lovely but looks bigger in the pictures and is not dog safe so you need to keep on a lead at all times. If you take your dog expect to be out by 9 am- which is too early, its for extra cleaning?Read more Wouldnt return here and wouldnt recommend to friends. Its two stars for a reason which is a shame as It could be fabulous. Hide

This was a perfect place for us and our dog. We hardly used the car as there was so much to visit locally and buses are fantastic. Even though the weather was poor we still had an amazing time in this location and will definitely be visiting again.

Hillside is a compact property with outstanding views over fields and valleys, with Esthwaite water and Claiffe Heights clearly visible. It is in a perfect location for anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing break, with many walks on the doorstep, without the need to use the car, including Tarn Hows, Coniston and Hawkshead.

I have stayed at Hillside a few times and I consider it perfectly adequate for one man and his small dog. It is not luxurious, but that is not what you are paying for to my mind; it is a base for walking and exploring and then to sleep at night. Perfectly adequate to my mind for that.

Despite the above comments we did greatly enjoy our stay. The very steep access to the property entrance could be problematic for those with limited mobility and should be mentioned in the property details.

Nice little cottage with beautiful surroundings. Does need some upgrading, however; all appliances worked, beds where comfortable, owners where polite and courteous. The parking permit was invaluable, this saved us a lot of money. Dont rely on the post code and sat nav getting you there, once off the motorway, follow the directions on the webpage.
