Snuggle down onto the comfortable sofas in the lounge and enjoy a film together while the hound dozes in front of the coal-effect electric fire. The king-size master bedroom is a lovely light-filled space, thanks to the French doors which give access outside, while the neighbouring twin room, which can be made up as a king-size on request, is equally as charming. The enclosed sunny patio, which is accessed via the bedroom, is a great spot to enjoy a drink with loved ones at the end of a great day of exploring.

Leave the cooking to someone else and dine at one of Hawkshead’s great local pubs. Visit Hill Top, the former home of Beatrix Potter and inspiration for some of her greatest work, 2.5 miles away. Try out a new water sport at Coniston Water (4.5 miles) or Lake Windermere (5 miles) or sit back and enjoy one of the many pleasure cruises that run there. The accommodation was lovely and weve stayed there before. However we only stayed at the property for three nights as it was virtually impossible to get a meal in the village. If wed have been warned beforehand we could have pre booked at the only pub doing food. It therefore turned out to be a very expensive break for three nights only so we are vRead moreery disappointed. As a holiday company Holiday Cottages should have advised us of changes in the village so we could have been prepared. Hide

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
