  • Recently refurbished period cottage overlooking the village green in delightful Stainton
  • Charming cottage for you and your four legged friend
  • Just 4 miles from popular Ullswater, on the edge of the Lake District National Park
Property code: SZ276

Perfect for couples, this delightful period cottage provides homely accommodation in a peaceful village location.

Set in the heart of the popular village of Stainton, this property is a short walk from a friendly 18th-century pub. The village is home to a hotel with a good restaurant, and a village shop which also operates as a post office. Ideally located for exploring the northern part of the Lake District, the cottage is just 4 miles North of Ullswater, where lakeside walks, picnics, kayaking and cruising on the Ullswater Steamers can all be enjoyed. Discover local history at nearby Lowther Castle or browse the independent shops and eateries of Penrith or Keswick. On the edge of the village The Alpaca Clothing Company is well worth a visit, or just a short drive away is the Rheged Centre offering shops, cafes and a 3D cinema.

Tastefully refurbished, this cosy cottage retains much of its 18th-century charm while also offering plenty of 21st-century home comforts. With exposed beams, a grandmother clock, a wood burner-effect electric fire and pleasant views across the green, the lounge is the perfect spot to relax with a good book or make use of the Smart TV. At the rear of the property, a modern kitchen with a slate floor contains an electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and large Smeg fridge with an ice compartment. Homecooked meals can be enjoyed in the adjoining dining room where the French doors leading outside, can be open or closed depending on the weather. An open-tread staircase leads up to the first floor, where the two bedrooms are located. An elegant double overlooks the village green, while the single includes a desk and chair, should anyone need to work while away. There is also a modern bathroom with shower over the bath. The eco friendly air source heat pump keeps the cottage cosy and warm.

Step outside from the kitchen onto a sheltered raised patio area complete with a table and chairs for enjoying al fresco meals in the sunshine. The outside tap is useful for washing off muddy boots and paws. There is off road parking at the property for 1 car.

A very cosy and comfortable cottage. Really well equipped, only thing we couldnt locate were eggcups. I found the low beams a challenge albeit there are plenty of warning signs which I managed to ignore on a couple of occasions. We tried the pub and the restaurant, both good. Would definitely return. Many thanks.

Jesmond Cottage was lovely and located in a great village with a pub and hotel (with a bar). It was quite cosy and comfortable. Easy to get to other villages, towns and fells.

The cottage is cosy and comfortable and nicely situated by the village green. A small community shop next to the pub sells newspapers and essentials.

The cottage is very pretty and in a lovely setting with a very secure back garden, but the lane on which it is situated is surprisingly popular as a vehicle cut through, which makes exiting the cottage quite exciting!

Lovely cottage in the heart of the friendly village of Stainton. It was well presented, clean and had everything we needed for an enjoyable and comfortable stay. A lovely little cottage located between Penrith and Keswick, very accessible to all areas of the Lakes to explore. Very nice restaurant in the Brentwood Hotel down the road, (the other pub does not serve breakfast at a weekend no matter what their website says!)
