Pretty, traditional cottage enjoying a tranquil countryside location, and yet still within walking distance to pubs and shops in the village of Hawkshead.

This cottage benefits from a wonderful location, on the edge of the village of Hawkshead, yet surrounded by fields with lovely countryside views. The village is known for its literary connections and is home to the Beatrix Potter Gallery, and William Wordsworth former-school the historic Grammar School. Those who are looking for a relaxing break enjoying the scenic landscape of the region will enjoy taking one of the number of boat trips that sail on Lake Windermere, or perhaps paying a visit to the viewing platform at Claife Heights. Those looking for a more active break will be spoilt for choice, with plenty of local climbs and opportunities for water sports in the area.

On entering this property, guests can use the handy porchway to leave muddy boots and coats, before moving through to the cosy lounge, with its beamed ceiling, fireplace with wood burner, comfortable seating, TV, and DVD. Leading off from the sitting room is the contemporary kitchen/diner, with its oven, hob, fridge, microwave, washing machine, and dishwasher. There is also a dining table here which seats four and a stable door perfect for the summer months. On the first floor of the property there are two bedrooms. The first of these is a restful double room, with plenty of space for hanging clothes in the built-in wardrobe, whilst the second bedroom is a cosy twin room with a window set offering lovely views across the fields to the village. The bathroom, also located on the first floor, has a bath, separate shower, and WC. There is a drying cupboard on the landing with hanging space for coats.

Outside, the property has an unusual woodland garden with slate paths meandering between the trees and two chairs carved from tree stumps, whilst there is also a large patio area with dining table and chairs, from where guests can enjoy the lovely countryside views. Off-road parking is available for two cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

A perfect location for a perfect holiday. Great for walking (not only the dog :), close to picturesque Hawkshead, milk delivered to your doorstep - everything we dreamt of when we decided to come to Britain for a holiday in the Lakes.

Fantastic spot an a really special little cottage. The porch is great to store clobber and keep it out of the living space. We felt instantly relaxed and I've already recommended this cottage to a friend!

We found the cottage to be very well appointed. It is so cosy, very warm without the need for the log fire to be on every night! The location is also brilliant, having a footpath nearby for easy access to Hawkshead and other walks. The outside area is great for sitting and enjoying the splendid views, perhaps with a glass of wine?!

Well equipped cottage in peaceful surrounds. Just a short walk by road or over field to Hawkshead village. One of the prettiest villages in the Lakes.

A lovely cottage dating in parts from the 1600s, in a quiet location overlooking countryside, but only a few minutes walk over the field into Hawkshead. Very dog friendly. Useful folder of information from the owners and plenty of nearby places to visit on foot or a short drive away

The cottage was lovely, with parking inside the gates. The garden/patio is enclosed but most dogs would be able to escape if determined over the wall or under the gates. The cottage is clean, comfortable and has all the required facilities. The shower is fairly compact and may be an issue to those of more generous proportions (!). There is a milk dRead moreelivery every morning and other items can be ordered which is handy as the cottage is to the North of Hawkshead (a short walk across the fields). Hide

We had a great week in this lovely cottage. The location being so close to the village meant that the cottage still kept a feeling of being remote, quiet and peaceful and yet within a couple of minutes we could be in Hawkshead for the shops, cafes and pubs.
