Full of original features and characterful touches, this pretty 17th-century cottage is the perfect rural hideaway for up to four guests. Located in the peaceful village of Bouth, it’s in an excellent spot for exploring the lakes and getting out and about on foot to follow one of the many local footpaths. A stylish garden room provides a beautiful additional spot to take in the peace and tranquillity of this lovely area.

Both quaint and cosy, this delightful property is at the end of a row of cottages and is a welcome retreat to head home to after a busy day. The attractive, country-style kitchen/diner is a bright space for cooking up a tasty snack or meal which can be enjoyed together, two small stepsdown lead to a lovely  lounge. Curl up on the inviting chairs and sofa in the cosy lounge, where a splash of colour, beamed ceilings and a warming open fire add to the ambience of this charming space. The family bathroom has a small step up to it, it is also located on the ground floor, while the two tastefully designed and restful bedrooms can both be found upstairs on the first floor. Stepping outside, a gravelled courtyard leads to a spacious garden. Here, you’ll find the garden room, which is a relaxing space which has been finished in a contemporary style. An added wood burner means it can be enjoyed at any time of the year.

Enjoy a bite to eat at the local pub, which is within walking distance, and pick up some essentials at the farm shop 1 mile away. Both Coniston Water (9 miles) and Lake Windermere (4.5 miles) offer endless activities including boat trips, paddleboarding, canoeing and swimming. For a change of transport, hop on a steam locomotive at the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, which is 2 miles away.

The cottage was absolutely immaculate on arrival. Lots of hot water. Sofa and bed very comfortable. Kitchen has all appliances and utensils required. Views from the bed on a morning with a cuppa are beautiful. Extremely peaceful with rabbits, birds and horses in the fields. Pub only a few yards away. Can't recommend this cottage highly enough.

Kiln Cottage is a wonderful place to get away from everyday' sorrows and stress. The location is great, the views from the windows like in a dream. Loved this cottage. It was well equipped, with good quality furnishings. The garden room was a welcome addition, giving more space. The bed was very comfortable, and relieved it wasnt memory foam. A peaceful setting, with plenty wildlife & farm animals outside. Great base for exploring the area. Will definitely return here.

We loved Kiln Cottage. It is in a very quiet location in a less touristy part of the Lake District, with peaceful views across fields to woodland beyond. The cottage is small but cosy, and beautifully presented. The modern additions, such as the bathroom, are very much in character with the age and beauty of the cottage, and of high quality. The cottage was absolutely lovely, and the surroundings even lovelier. To wake up to such a beautiful view every morning was a dream. The cottage was perfect for three adults and very well equipped for a small cottage. The location to both Winderemere and Coniston was very convenient although a car is a must.

A fantastic cottage with a real bonus, the garden room and garden, used every day. The main cottage was lovely and cool in the heat the week we were there. It had everything you could want. For some people it might be a concern but be aware it only has a downstairs bathroom.
