This converted 16th century Lakeland cottage, situated in the heart of Hawkshead, one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District, is a perfect retreat and an excellent base for exploring this stunning area. Ideally situated between Coniston Water and Lake Windermere, Hawkshead is a thriving village, offering a great selection of tea rooms, pubs and gift shops, and is home to the Beatrix Potter Gallery. Close by is Esthwaite Water, a fantastic fishing lake which also inspired Wordsworth. Coniston, Grizedale, Langdale, Grasmere and Ambleside are all within easy reach, and the busy centres of Windermere and Bowness are a short ferry ride away. With breath-taking scenery and activities for the whole family, this idyllic spot guarantees a memorable holiday.
On entering this lovely cottage, with its exposed beams and picturesque views, you will find yourself in the welcoming and cosy lounge/diner, which is beautifully furnished and is a great room to relax in, complete with TV, DVD and CD. The traditional wood burner with oak lintel, delightful window seat, original oak cupboards and warm decor add to the old-world charm. The dining area is ideally situated, perfect for enjoying that special meal. Exploring further, you will find the attractive and elegantly designed kitchen, where you will find everything you may need including an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave and washing machine. Heading upstairs to the first floor you will find the comfortable master bedroom which has a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room complete with WC. The main bathroom is also on this floor, and has a shower over the bath and WC. Another flight of stairs takes you up to two more comfortable and pretty bedrooms: one single with a pull-out bed if required, and one twin.
You will find a small cobbled area in front of the cottage with a wrought iron bench and pots of seasonal flowers, a lovely spot for sitting back and watching the world go by. The back door leads you out into one of Hawkshead’s little cobbled squares where you will find a shed suitable for bike storage, if required. There is a parking permit provided for one car in the main village car park.
Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.
