Set on the western fringe of the Lake District National Park, this pretty cottage offers a great holiday base in Duddon Valley a short drive to the shops and eateries of Broughton-in-Furness and with fells, lakes and coastline nearby.

This bijou bolthole in the Lower Duddon river valley is made for couples who want to explore the southern lakes. Go rowing on Coniston lake, picnic on the banks, and potter around the village shops (13 miles). Find delicious treats and original gifts in the beautiful market town of Broughton-in-Furness (3 miles). Book horseriding adventures with Cumbrian Heavy Horses (1.5 miles) and explore the Whicham Valley. Discover the mystical Swinside Stone Circle (2 miles), and the romantic ruins of Furness Abbey (16 miles). Tee off on the fairways of Silecroft Golf Course (5.5 miles) or take the ultimate drive over England’s steepest road at Wrynose Pass (21 miles), towards Beatrix Potter country in Ambleside (21 miles).

Step straight into the open-plan kitchen and dining area of this recently renovated traditional cottage, which features an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, toaster, and dining furniture. Rustle up delicious meals with fresh produce from local markets; there’s a chaise longue in the kitchen if you fancy a rest before enjoying your home-cooked feast in the dining area. Admire the bright and contemporary country-style furnishings which harmonise with the original exposed beams and period features in the living room. Settle in for the evening and enjoy film nights on the TV and DVD player by the warmth of the wood burner. When slumber calls, head up cottage-style stairs towards the pretty double bedroom. There’s also a contemporary-style bathroom with a shower over the bath.

A beautiful, well presented cottage in a stunning location. Ideal location for lots of walks and visits to nearby attractions, car is a must as although walking distance to shops etc, there are no paths only roads. We read previous reviews so went prepared with our own supplies to last a few days. It was like a little home from home with a well equRead moreipped kitchen. Beautiful log fire for cooler nights which made the cottage very cosy. Highly recommend for a peaceful, relaxing break. Hide

Cosy cottage with just about everything you need. Comfortable and quiet location. No nearby shop so you need to bring sufficient with you to avoid unnecessary journeys. Walks from the cottage and nearby from Millom. Steep stairs to first floor so not ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

Beautiful cottage, Stunning location. Local pub does not do food currently and is only open Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, cash only. However a pizza and burger van appear on at least two nights and supply good fast food. Brilliant base to travel around that part of the Lakes.
