Charming cottage enjoying a tranquil location with plenty to do nearby, in the popular Lakeland town of Ambleside and near the shores of Lake Windermere.

Book a Lake District stay for seven at this welcoming holiday home in Ambleside. The four-bedroom, stone property is less than 0.5 miles from the centre of the vibrant Lakeland hub, with its shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. Also enjoy being less than 0.5 miles from Lake Windermere and within easy reach of great walks, cycle rides and places to enjoy water sports. Two four-legged friends can join the party for a break at this charming cottage.

Arrive at the property and let yourselves into the hall then the generous lounge/diner, with its beamed ceiling. Settle down in front of the TV/DVD to relax together after long walks. In the summer, throw open the French windows on to the patio garden and wander outside. Play games at the table in the dining area, two steps up from the lounge, and gather in here for meals prepared in the kitchen, where you will find all the equipment you need for cooking during your stay. There is also a dishwasher and washer/dryer. Also at ground-floor level, find a bedroom with a king-size bed, plus a shower room. The remaining bedrooms, a king-size, with en-suite shower room, a twin and a single room are on the first floor, together with the family bathroom. Sit down to breakfast, lunch and dinner out in the courtyard garden on warm days. Discover you can park two cars at the cottage.

Wander around the town, shopping for local produce and choosing places to eat out when you don’t feel like cooking. Go to the cinema here; visit the Armitt Museum or catch a horse-drawn carriage down to Lake Windermere and take a cruise out on the water. Head to famous Grasmere, 4 miles away, to follow in the footsteps of William Wordsworth and perhaps shop for gingerbread.

A nice spacious cottage, a few minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside. sleeps 7 easily. It is next to a busy main road, so the downstairs bedroom is noisy.

Stayed at Lowfold Barn on several occasions and as always we had a lovely stay. Cosy home with a great location in the heart of Ambleside. Lots of good walks around also. The added extras the new owner has in place are a lovely touch as was the bottle of champagne and treats for the 2 dogs. Will definitely be back at one of our favourite cottages.

The cottage was cosy and in a fantastic location. Although too cold to sit out (last week of March) the garden had a great seating area and was secure for our 2 dogs. The bed was comfortable and the main bedroom a great size. The lounge area was really cosy with the fire lit. Overall we had a fantastic week, as we always do in the lakes.
