Set in a beautiful rural location this cottage is the perfect get away from the hustle and bustle! Although it is still close enough to walk into the local village of hawkshead or a short drive into Ambleside which have a good range of shops and amenities. We took our dogs along and they loved the large garden and sleeping by the fire in the eveninRead moregs. Plenty of walks to start from the cottage, including to lake Windermere and Wray Castle. A welcoming character cottage in a tranquil location. The cottage is clean, very well equipped and spacious. Lovely walks from the cottage to Wray Castle and Lake Windermere. The garden is spacious and secure which welcomes a wonderful variety of garden birds who frequently visit the feeders. We will definitely return to Manor House Cottage.

Wonderful character filled cottage, everything you need is available, log burner heating, massive garden, ideal cottage for the larger family, lovely walks to Lake Windermere. Ideal place to explore with buses connecting Hawkshead to the rest of the Lake District.

Very cosy cottage with good sized rooms and a lovely garden. We found it had super walks straight from the door and was in a very quiet hamlet away from crowds but a quick drive into Hawkshead for supplies. There was a very kind welcome bag left and kitchen was a really good size. I would love to return in autumn with the trees turning and an excusRead moree to use the cosy fire. Hide

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
