After a busy day on your feet, the lounge/diner will be a welcome place to unwind with its beamed ceiling and cosy wood burner. Enjoy a film while wrapped up warm on the comfortable sofas or enjoy a sociable meal together at the dining table. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you’ll need throughout your stay, while there’s also an extra table in here which makes a great place for breakfast. Sloping ceilings and dormer windows add character to the three inviting bedrooms, which are all to be found on the first floor. Heading outside, the children will enjoy playing in the large enclosed garden, while the patio area to the side of the cottage is a nice spot to relax and enjoy a glass of wine as the sun goes down.
Follow the windy country lane that leads directly to Lake Windermere, where adventurers can try out water sports such as canoeing and paddleboarding. The mock-Gothic Wray Castle is less than a mile away and a fascinating place to visit, with its towers, turrets and great views. Grab a bite to eat in one of the many eateries in bustling Ambleside (4 miles) before hopping on one of the leisure cruises that set off from there, around the lake.
