This well-presented, detached house is situated in the popular Lakeland village of Cartmel in Cumbria, offering an abundance of shops and eateries close by.

Graced with beautiful original features throughout, this smart detached home sits in the gorgeous village of Cartmel. Sleeping six people over three bedrooms and welcoming one canine companion, it’s the ideal Lakeland retreat for families or groups of friends who want to enjoy some quality time together in a property that’s overflowing with charm. Spend your days kayaking at Lake Windemere, and your evenings rubbing shoulders with the locals in the village’s pubs or sharing a drink or two on the property’s patio.

Step inside and you’ll find yourself in a lovely living room with a welcoming wood burner-effect gas fire. Make yourself at home and then head through to the retro-chic kitchen to cook up a feast for your loved ones. Dine at the stylish breakfast bar and then make your way out to the patio area to sip a glass of wine and watch the stars come out. Alternatively, head to the living room to catch up on the gossip with your loved ones by the wood burner-effect gas fire, or to the snug to slip onto the sofa and watch your favourite movie. At the end of the day, you’ll find two lovely bedrooms on the first floor and one on the second floor.

With its cobbled streets, antique shops and cosy pubs, the village of Cartmel is an absolute delight to explore. Check out the ancient Cartmel Priory or treat yourself to a Michelin-star dinner in the village’s chicest restaurant. Alternatively, head to the elegant town of Grange-over-Sands (2.5 miles) to take a stroll along the promenade and enjoy the views of Morecambe Bay before settling into a cosy cafe for some afternoon tea. Or make your way to Newby Bridge (6.5 miles) – from there you can take a trip on the beautifully preserved Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway.

Location is excellent, but for a property of this level (comparing it to others we have stayed at in the village), it was disappointing not to find any basics like milk or even salt and pepper in the cottage.

This is a lovely cottage in the centre of Cartmel. Lovingly converted from a family home to a holiday home, it is exceptional. Quite pricey but comparable to others. If you want to stay in such a great location, that is what it will cost you! As for Cartmel, fabulous village with great walks and sights on your doorstep. Don't miss Levenshall or SizRead moreergh Castle which are stunning, not to mention the priory church in Cartmel itself. Eat, drink and be merry on great pub food or fine dining. Hide

Nice cottage. A television in the living room would have been better in there rather than the kitchen. Beds were very comfortable. Yard space very small for a dog friendly cottage.
