Ambleside is at the northern end of Lake Windermere, England's longest lake and surrounded by rolling fells and offers access to the higher mountain tops as well as the Lake itself. If you enjoy the outdoors Ambleside makes a perfect base from which to explore the whole area. Ideal for a couple looking for a cosy retreat, whilst having the benefit of walks, shops, pubs and a wide choice of restaurants all within a stone's throw of the cottage.
This lovely property is approached up a steep access drive, then via steps through a stone archway and up again to a level patio area where you can enjoy views across the rooftops to the fells. Cars can be left in the nearby long stay carpark for free with the use of a permit .
At the top of the steps it's worth taking a moment to take in the lovely view across the village to Loughrigg beyond. The front door leads into an entrance hall with slate flagged floor with space to leave coats and walking boots. This leads to a spacious open plan lounge/dining room with vaulted ceiling, exposed beams exposed stone wall. The large corner sofa and stove effect gas fire make this a lovely space to relax after a day on the fells. The picture window offers superb views over the attractive terrace towards Loughrigg . If you get tired of the view, there is a large, wall mounted TV and Bose I-pod dock and DVD. There is a dining table and chairs, perfect for sharing a romantic meal - although you may be spoilt for choice with so many options for eating out only a short walk from your doorstep.
The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, washer/dryer and fridge freezer. Stairs lead to an attractive and spacious kingsized double bedroom with vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. There are excellent views over the terrace towards Loughrigg. There is a spacious mezzanine landing with chaise longue leading to bathroom with bath with Mira shower over, basin and wc. Gas central heating and double glazing make it a perfect hideaways at any time of year.
Outside there is a shared patio garden area with furniture provided and lovely views of the fells. There is a parking permit supplied for a near-by long stay car park.
