Detached, stone period house in the centre of the stunning village of Portinscale. The perfect location for family and friends to explore the Lake District, enjoy a few drinks at the local pub or have a nice meal out and enjoy the walk home with so many options on your doorstep.

Brilliantly located for adventures on land and water, this home sits just 2 miles from the hub of Keswick and is located in the pretty village of Portinscale, on the edge of Derwentwater. Sleeping eight guests across four bedrooms, bring your pup along too so you can explore and adventure the days away with family and friends. Fantastically spacious rooms and a pair of lounges mean you can be as sociable or as peaceful as you like.

After a long journey or an adventurous afternoon, fire up the wood burner and huddle around the TV on the pair of sofas, just what you need to switch off and relax. The other lounge off the kitchen is perfect for balmy evenings, when you can throw open the French doors and let the fresh air flood inside. Brilliantly spacious and open-plan, the kitchen/diner has ample room for several pairs of hands to make light work of dinner, and room for other guests to keep you company with a refreshing tipple. After plating up in the light dining room, embrace your surroundings and head outside for some fresh air and an al fresco sundowner in the private garden or the patio. If you’re lucky enough to bag the master bedroom, climb to the first floor and continue your night on the private roof terrace. The remaining first-floor bedrooms have all you need to enjoy a quiet night’s sleep and share the family bathroom where you can start your day with a rejuvenating soak in the tub. There is off-road parking for three cars.

With so much to explore, lace up your shoes, throw a lead on the dog and head out into the great outdoors. To explore Derwentwater, hop on a cruise from the local marina and stop off at different jetties for a bite to eat or a wander. Jump off at Hawes End to begin a walk to Cat Bells, where the climb will reward you with panoramic views. For a fun-filled, family-friendly day out, make your way to Go Ape (4 miles) and channel your inner big kid.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
