A luxury manor house in the South Lakes perfect for family gatherings

Located in the seaside retreat of Grange-over-Sands, this impressive 16th-century manor house is the perfect choice for a celebration or a get-together with family and friends. Believed to be the oldest house in the town, guests will love socialising in its snooker room and snug, which even has its own bar. Accommodating up to 14 guests and two dogs, the property is on the doorstep of the Lake District with its many activities and walks.

Oozing old world charm and character, you’ll find traditional features and decor at every turn in this stunning home. In the well-equipped farmhouse kitchen, the Aga and double oven will be a welcome sight for any budding chefs in the group, while the dining room creates an ambient space to enjoy a formal meal together. Unwind in the spacious drawing room after a busy day, as you all sink down into the comfortable sofas to enjoy a film. The snug, with feature fireplace, offers another delightful place to relax, while those in the mood for a game will enjoy spending time in the snooker room. The seven bedrooms are both spacious and welcoming, decorated in neutral and warming tones, to ensure a restful night awaits. Take in the coastal views as you all enjoy a little al fresco dining in the pretty enclosed gardens.

Take a stroll along Grange’s promenade, before stopping off at one of its many pubs and restaurants. Pull on your walking boots and head up Hampsfield Fell, which looks over the town. Foodies won’t want to miss the chance to visit Cartmel (1.5 miles) which is famously home to sticky toffee pudding. Absorb yourself in the beauty of the national park with a visit to Lake Windermere (15 miles) where you can walk, cycle or hop on a boat.

Golden wedding anniversary with family. Ideal with short walk into Grange in itself lovely to stroll around. We used the train to get across to Arnside and walked over the Knott and back along the shore. Good walking from Grange over to Cartmel. Staying at Rockcragg there's no need to use the car

Absolutely fantastic property. Bundles of room, excellently equipped throughout and everything set out and explained fully. All large comfortable bedrooms and also pristine gardens. Bottom of hill are shops and pubs right on your doorstep. Could not fault this property. Probably the best we have ever stayed in. It is a credit to the owners.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
