The location was very good with walks from the property and a good selection of shops and pubs within walking distance. The property itself was comfortable and reasonably well equipped although the TV was frustrating and relied on watching programmes through BBC iPlayer etc.

The house was just wonderful to stay, the staircase was always so lovely to look at each time we walked in. Front room with gas fire nice and cosy. If you have a bit of an anxious dog, then Shap isn't the best place to walk locally as there are a lot of dogs nearby. Plenty of walks from the door, though lots of fields with cattle. Wonderful cottage in avery quiet location. The cottage is so well equipped and has many little touches making it very much feel like a home from home . Only issue was that couldn't easily get channels on TV to work so just streamed Sky App through laptop to TV. Great location to visit a number of sites and endless walks and beautiful scenery. I would absolutely recommend this home, but at the risk this cottage is booked out so often that Ill never be able to find an opening to stay again. It was absolutely a home away from home. Owner is very generous, cleaner does an amazing job, and everything is spacious and comfortable. Owner also kept in touch so we felt connected to them.

The cottage was a short walk to the local shop and the chippie. It was very homely and welcoming. It was within walking distance to both the pubs which were also very welcoming and friendly. We would be having breakfast and watch the birds in the garden which was really nice.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
