Within walking distance of Windermere and on the edge of the hamlet of Far Sawrey - with its popular pub and village shop - this beautiful, detached cottage is in a stunning location - perfect for those who want to enjoy the Lakes.

This is a charming secluded, detached cottage set in the pretty hamlet of Far Sawrey. With magnificent views of the fells and surrounded by woodland and fields, this is the perfect hideaway. Situated between Coniston Water and Lake Windermere. Far Sawrey is where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her famous stories. The cottage is close to Hawkshead, one of the prettiest villages in the Lake District, offering a great selection of tearooms, pubs and gift shops. Nearby is Esthwaite Water, a fantastic fishing lake. Ambleside, Coniston, Grizedale and Grasmere are within easy reach, and Windermere and Bowness are a short ferry ride away.

On entering this delightful cottage, the entrance hall leads you into a large and welcoming kitchen/dining room. The stylish and elegant kitchen is equipped with everything you may need including an Aga, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The dining area is bright and inviting, and a perfect place to enjoy that special meal. Crossing into the light and spacious lounge, you can relax in front of the open fire. The lounge also has TV, DVD, a music centre, all helping to make this the perfect room for relaxation. Exploring the ground floor further, you will find a light and attractive double bedroom. You will also find a ground-floor shower room, complete with WC, which is also where the washer/dryer is located. Heading upstairs, you will find three further bedrooms. The spacious master bedroom includes a king-size bed, sofa, TV, and an en-suite bathroom complete with whirlpool bath with shower over and WC. There is a comfy twin bedroom with an en-suite bathroom benefiting from a shower over the bath and WC, and a cosy single bedroom.

Stepping outside via the French windows, you will find the beautiful large enclosed garden with terrace. There is a lawn and pretty flower beds and lovely views over Lake Windermere. Complete with garden furniture, this is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful location at the end of a fantastic day. There is also plenty of off-road parking by the house.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Great accommodation and location. Great standard but needs a little TLC. If bringing dogs great garden for them, but consider low wall on one side is easy for medium size dogs upwards to jump. Would definitely book the property again

A lovely cottage tucked away in a quiet and beautiful area of the lakes. Very homely feel and plenty of space both inside and out. Lovely spot! House is very warm due to AGA so needed most windows wide open on hot days.

Our family of 6 adults spent a wonderful week at Sawrey Stables. The accommodation was every bit as lovely as in the website photos -- spacious and comfortable with a warm and cosy feel (due to the Aga and the real fire in the living-room). The enclosed garden was perfect for the dog and we all enjoyed sitting out on the secluded terrace enjoying tRead morehe view. A lovely, secluded location with a number of different walks right outside your front door. A nice, enclosed garden for those with little ones or dogs and a short walk to the very welcoming local pub. Rooms were all clean and tidy and the house furnished to a high standard. A perfect place for families, couples, friends and lovers of The Lakes.

This is such a lovely cottage - a real home from home. Its very well furnished with quality sofas, beds and furniture. The Aga is very easy to cook on and keeps the cottage really warm with constant hot water. The location is superb and the surrounding countryside is stunning. In fact, it was all so good we are going back again this December!

Lovely detached cottage in excellent location. Quiet, close to pub and lake. The cottage is great for an extended family holiday. The only slight downside is that the Aga makes the kitchen/dining area uncomfortably warm at times, although it is very handy for drying wet clothes!

I am very grateful for the advice I received from one of the gentleman at the company, who advised me thoroughly and honestly about which cottage would suit the particular requirements of my family and our purpose. We had a whole family gathering of 8, with half the family coming from a distance, including small children. This cottage really turnedRead more out to be perfect for us, and provided a wonderful foundation for a lovely family gathering. Everybody felt very happy, peaceful, contented, safe and comfortable here. The staff at Lakeland Hideaways were so friendly and welcoming, and when we arrived at the cottage we felt very welcomed by the layout, and the fact that everything was ready for use, and basic requirements were provided for. The cottage and grounds were very clean, and the garden is beautiful and has been maintained very well. The children spent a lot of time in it, as did we all with family games. We all felt very appreciative. It was so lovely and quiet and due to its isolation, it gave us the privacy which is nice for a family. We enjoyed the peaceful location, and you can go off for great walks right from the doorstep. The cottage is only several minutes away from Hawkshead village which was handy. The staff were extremely kind which made a huge difference. I would recommend this cottage to anyone, and would love to stay here again. Hide

enjoyed our stay at sawrey stables. Enough room for 4 adults, 3 children and 2 dogs. Well equipped and warm which is essential for elderly grand/parents. Handy also having the downstairs bedroom since one of our adults can't easily get upstairs. Living quarters were spacious and well stocked with equipment. Sky and wifi available as well as books/gRead moreames/toys for children. Kitchen has fridge/freezer (good size) and aga as well as electric cooking rings and a dishwasher. There is also the washing machine. From the cottage you could walk down the path to the passenger ferry. 50 p to walk on with easy access to Bowness (but a good 2 mile walk there and back). Also easy to walk to Hill Top. Enjoyed Tower arms. Cuckoo Brow Inn welcoming. Food reasonable but preferred Tower Arms but ideal as close to the cottage. Hide

I am spoilt by this part of Cumbria as it is where my father's family came from. As such I have family in the area and feel as though I belong. Sawrey Stables is a nice quiet cottage with a good feel about it. We have stayed there many times.
