If you’re looking for somewhere special for a celebration or getaway with family and friends, look no further than this gorgeous rural retreat. Sleeping seven guests and up to three dogs, this detached stone cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside and views across to Lake Windermere. Located on the edge of the picture-postcard hamlet of Far Sawrey with its popular pub and shop, this fantastic home is the perfect base from which to explore this area of the Lake District.
This home is both elegant and stylish, with sumptuous furnishings that add to its homely ambience. In the delightful kitchen/diner, the chefs of the family will enjoy making use of the traditional Aga to rustle up some tasty treats for everyone, which can be enjoyed together around the large dining table. French doors lead from this room out onto the patio as well. Oozing character, the inviting lounge will relax you as soon as you walk in, with comfortable sofas to curl up on and an open fire for chillier evenings. One of the cosy bedrooms, a double, is to be found on the ground floor, while three further rooms are on the first floor. Each has been designed in warming, neutral tones, to create an oasis of calm. The en-suite in the king-size room has its own bath. Enjoy some al fresco dining outside on the patio, while the children and dogs explore the large lawned area.
Follow the house’s footpath down to Lake Windermere and catch the ferry across to the town of Bowness. Stroll to Claife Heights, also within walking distance, where a purpose-built platform gives incredible views across the water. Visit the former home of Beatrix Potter, Hill Top, which is in the neighbouring hamlet of Near Sawrey, 1 mile away.
