Enjoying a peaceful location in the Lake District’s Kentmere Valley, this charming one-bedroom cottage is an idyllic romantic retreat. Surrounded by stunning countryside, it’s a great base from which to explore the lakes and fells which make this area so popular. There are endless trails to be found on the doorstep and one canine companion is welcome too, so your walking boots will be getting plenty of use.

 

This semi-detached property is packed with traditional features which give it a homely and characterful feel, perfect for those wanting to step back from busy daily life. The pretty kitchen is equipped with everything you’ll need to make yourselves at home, along with a traditional AGA which takes pride of place in the living room. Enjoy a candle-lit dinner together at the small dining table, before snuggling up on the sofa to enjoy a film, while the dog snoozes at your feet. Stairs lead up from here to the shower room and a beautifully finished king-size bedroom, with shabby-chic furniture and calming decor, which provide a sanctuary for rest. Wake up to those wonderful countryside views from here, before stepping out into the cottage garden where the dog can roam happily while you enjoy your morning cuppa.

 

The nearest pub is 4.5 miles away, while the historic market town of Kendal (10 miles), home to the famous mint cake, is worth a visit for a day of shopping, with museums and two castles to explore. The eastern shore of Lake Windermere is 9 miles from the cottage, where you can take a boat trip or follow one of the picturesque walking routes around it. If you’re looking for a bit of adventure, try canoeing or paddleboarding, with equipment for hire locally.

Shepherds Nook is everything we could have imagined it was and more! We were looking for a beautiful quiet, cosy space to retreat to and we found it. Cottage is in a beautiful location. Great walks. Bit of a disappointing holiday all round. As the Cottage is small it does need more storage especially if staying for a week as cottage gets cluttered very easily. Too many rugs causing trip hazard as I found out. Shepherd's Nook is an absolute gem. The long single track road and squeeze to the final destination are a bit of a challenge, but are well worth it. The cottage is very comfortable and delightfully decorated and we wanted for nothing. The weather was perfect so we enjoyed sitting in the garden looking down the valley and hearing only the sounds of Read morethe stream, birds and sheep. What rare peace! Absolutely idyllic. The cottage was lovely and cosy with everything we needed for a wonderful holiday. The view from the garden was breath taking. Stone cottage with an AGA in a very quiet corner of the Lake District. Very narrow access thus difficult for big cars. Marvellous if you want to stay put and walk or just potter.

The cottage is in an excellent location with good parking. Lots of walks from the door. It was warm and the bed was comfortable. Although the surface was clean e.g. bathroom the carpets were really dirty and the place smelled strongly of dogs. The kitchen equipment could do with a refresh.

Shepherds Nook suited us very well. It is cosy and comfortable and in a beautiful peaceful location between Kendal and Windermere. There are plenty of walks from the door and it is well placed for touring the southern Lake District.

A beautiful location and magical experience. A true Lake District cottage with authentic features and ambience. Easy access for Kentmere mountain walks and shorter local walks around the hamlet. Kentmere is an oasis of calm in the hurly-burly of the Lake District.

We felt very at home in this cosy and comfy cottage. Very peaceful, very remote, with wonderful views down the valley from the garden. The owner is lovely and lives close by. We walked every day from the cottage and didn't use the car at all for the whole week. We absolutely loved it here

Vista is amazing along with the garden, Annis is lovely and friendly, fabulous walks if mobility allows. Peace and quiet, the most tranquil spot known to mankind. in need of a good clean and as long as you don't mind spiders it's fabulous. Oh and the Aga, well we all want one now. The view is what we are looking for for our final forever home. The Read morelast 15 minutes are narrow lanes but the last few minutes are really narrow (single car) but worth it. Hide
