A fine example of an Arts and Crafts cottage, located in the village of Near Sawrey, and a short distance from Lake Windermere and Hawkshead.

Located in Near Sawrey, the village which was once home to Beatrix Potter, you’ll find this charming cottage with Arts and Crafts architecture. It comfortably accommodates four people along with two holidaying hounds, who will love the nearby woodland and many walking routes on the doorstep. The shores of Lake Windermere are 2 miles away, while a local pub and restaurant are within walking distance.

Careful styling, decor and furnishings ensure this delightful home is faithful to its heritage. The result is a warm and homely base for your break. The pretty lounge is colourful and bright, with a cosy wood burner at its heart which adds to the room’s cosiness on cooler evenings. A well-equipped and stylish kitchen has everything keen chefs will need to rustle up something tasty, while the dining room is a sociable space for everyone to enjoy a meal together. On the first floor, each of the two bedrooms has its own style with elegant furnishings and comfortable beds which invite you to snuggle up and enjoy a good night’s sleep. Soothe aching muscles with a soak in the roll-top bath in the main bathroom, which has a shower as well. Children and canines will be spoilt for choice outside with a patio to the front of the cottage, a seating area to the side and 1 acre of woodland to the rear, which guests are free to explore.

Don’t miss the chance to visit Hill Top, the beloved former home of Beatrix Potter, which is in the village. Head to the shores of Lake Windermere (3 miles) and walk to Claife Heights, a viewing platform which looks over the lake. Take to the water and enjoy a cruise, before heading to Grizedale Forest (2.5 miles) where you can try high ropes courses and Segway riding.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
