Homely cottage offering comfortable accommodation sleeping four adults plus 2 children in the bunk room if required, sitting in a picturesque position overlooking Coniston Water and the surrounding mountains.

Perfect for a family holiday, this charming three-bedroom cottage is situated in an impressive elevated position above Coniston Water. Enjoying panoramic mountain views, it’s conveniently located within walking distance of Coniston village with its choice of pubs and shops. It can accommodate four adults, with a bunk bedroom for two children, making it a great base for small groups.

This homely property has a lovely rural style, with traditional touches blending beautifully with all your modern comforts. The front door opens onto the kitchen/diner, a bright room with a dining table and all the equipment you will need to make yourselves at home. Relax in the pretty lounge, which is a light-filled space with comfortable sofas you can snuggle up on as the wood burner warms your toes. The views from here are impressive too. Two bedrooms are to be found on the first floor of the property, a restful en-suite double and a bunk bedroom suitable for children. The third bedroom, a pretty double, is in the attic space on the second floor, with some reduced head-space due to its location in the eaves of the house. Head out through the patio doors in the lounge onto your private terrace and take in the stunning landscape views. Steps also lead down from here onto another terrace where you can enjoy a BBQ and some al fresco drinks.

Wander around the shops in Coniston village before grabbing a bite to eat in one of the local pubs. Hire a craft from the boating centre here and head out onto the lake. Follow one of the many local walks around the cottage, or for a more adventurous day, the Old Man of Coniston (1 mile) is a great spot for walkers of all abilities, with different trails to the summit.

We enjoyed a truly wonderful break in Sun Cottage. The views from the property are stunning due to its elevated position - this does mean you have to experience the steep drive up from the village. The view from the living room over Coniston is amazing, however the drive up to the cottage is not for the faint hearted and if you order a grocery delivery for your stay meet them at the bottom of the hill! It is however a good location for walking straight from the front door. The cottage is compact but generally comfortable and well equipped. We had absolutely no complaints about the cottage. There were three adults in our party. We had plenty of room and the furniture and beds were very comfortable. We do not watch tv while on holiday so I cannot pass comment on that. The view is idyllic and it is very peaceful. We are all in our late 70's but consider ourselves fit so the walk up and Read moredown the hill was not a problem for us. The situation of the cottage is perfect for people who enjoy walking on the fells. Hide

Cosy terraced cottage right at the top of the village of Coniston with fantastic views out to the lake and hills. Walk is VERY steep so wouldn't be appropriate for anyone with mobility issues but fine for fit and healthy walkers. Beautiful cottage with stunning views from the lounge and bedrooms over Coniston and plenty of outside seating on either the balcony or garden terraces. Perfect for 4 people comfortably with good facilities and a short ( if steep ) walk into town. Not suitable for those with restricted mobility as there are steep stairs.

The cottage is lovely, however as mentioned in other reviews the communal living space is very small. We were a family of 4 and you couldnt have added in any extra people. However the views are stunning and the area is wonderful. We had a lovely time.

The Lake District National Park is a superb choice for a holiday. If you love nature and the great outdoors, the Lake District is one of the UK’s most beautiful holiday destinations. Taking up the lion’s share of the north-western county of Cumbria, the region has been popular with visitors since Victorian times, and it’s the only place to find mountains in England. Peace and tranquillity characterise the wonderful Lake District, with 16 lakes, including England’s longest and deepest, there is much to see and do. Visit Coniston Water, Ullswater, Wast Water and Windermere for just a taste of what you can see in the Lake District National Park.

Small towns like Ambleside, Windermere, Hawkshead, Bowness-on-Windermere and Glenridding all make for great bases from which to relax and unwind between sojourns into the fantastic natural landscapes of the Lake District National Park. Wildlife and bird lovers can spot all kinds of lesser spotted species in situ, and walking trails reveal some of the very best vistas within English borders. To embellish the experience, you can enjoy some of the country’s cosiest pubs and restaurants, many found in picture-perfect locations.
